how i call function (javascript) from masterpage head

i have java script function , i write it in head of master page
in page.aspx i add a button and on click event i give the name of function
but it doesn't work :(

how can i call it ?????

show the button markup and the javascript. It supposed to work. if it is not working then there would be some specific reason. Make sure your page using the master page
