Reporting Tool Development (Simplified)

Hi,

I am into developing a reporting tool (well a very simplyfied one) using Silverlight and i want to knew if there is other similar products (even if they are not developed in Silverligh).

Also i want a survey that state the existing techniques.

Is it possible for me to use some existing tools like jasper report... and customize it??
Is this better than developping one from scrunch (the tool is gonna be accessible from the web and is developped in Silverlight)??.

I will be pleased with any information or advice regarding this matter.

May I suggest you try Google as your first point of research. I am sure there are many reporting tools around but I have no idea what sort of reporting you are interested in.

actually i am searching and i have some results but what i really want is the advice.

i want a survey A survey of what, techniques of what? Your question is lacking detail of what problem you are trying to solve; you have not even described what it is that you are trying to report, what are your inputs and outputs, what type of report you are trying to produce etc. Please note this forum is largely for specific technical questions rather than general research.
