Hi everyone, I joined this forum because I was hoping to learn from experts in programming. I know next to nothing about it.

I want to develop a web app for lawyers, and plan to outsource it's development to a programmer. But I have no idea what I should look for, what language I want it to be programmed, what things I need to start a SaaS company. Can anyone help please?

I guess I'll organize this into a number of questions

1) What requirements are needed to have a SaaS website? I heard I need a server so I was planning on using Amazon's cloud service. But I hear I need something like an SSL (don't know what that is).

2) Should I look for a specific language that I want my programmers to program in? If so what would be the best language to save on time for it to be built?

Thank you guys.

If you know nothing about programming, it is going to be next to impossible to develop your own application. That being said, it is pointless for you, at this time, to even ask about requirements for any sort of website.

You need to decide what language and technology you want to code in and then start learning. When you begin to understand the basics, then you can venture into more complex issues.

I don't plan to have any involvement in the literal programming. I just want to give the money to someone else to do it for me.

Honestly, it's just too vague. Your requirements will changed based on what you want to do, a "web app for lawyers" could be pretty much anything. Choices like language, hardware, etc. will really depend on the details.

Thanks Lewax... I think I'll just call a software development company... this sounds like a conversation that will be better by talking, not typing.
