Master Page Dropdown selected index event not firing

Hi ,

I have a dropdown in master page for changing the menu content . when i change selected item from dropdown then selected index event not firing/working and page loads only fires.

obviously the page load is firing first because at the time of page load your child page is load first and then master page is load, so when you select item of your dropdown list it will post back your whole page and your child page load event is firing.. keep your Dropdown list in update panel,
