After all these years of C++ I am going to start using C#. Who can recommend a good book to start with and a good reference book?

I use Stroustroup for C++, Harbison and Steele for C, that's the style I like.

I am sorry, I didn't realise it wasn't allowed

There are two excellent APress books on C#
PRO WPF in C# and the C# book itself. :)
Anything Apress (IMO) is good.

i think you are talking about Pro C# 2008 with .NET 3.5! if it is , i learn from that book!
Take a look at Book Zero - Charles Petzold[^]. Subtitle "What the C or C++ Programmer Needs to Know About C# and the .NET Framework".

Very reasonable price (free). :)

I learned C# basics and its advanced features using C# Unleashed by Mayo and I also recommend this book to you. Look for what is the most updated version/framework for this title. Enjoy!
