Installing MySQL 5.5

I recently noticed that I had somenhow installed MySQL 5.5 to c:\Program Files\Canon\Easy-WebPrint Ex.

I've unistalled it fully, renamed the Canon folder termporarily etc, but no matter what I do, it reinstalls there rather than in the C:\Program Files\MySQL area.

What am I missing?

Solution 1

Just a guess, but have a look in the registry - if you do a search for the folder name in regedit that will probably find the problem.

Done that - helped get a new clean install. Now if I can only get the instance configurator over the line....

Solution 2

Choose the "Custom" installation in the installer and you can pick where to install to.

Perfect. Its the only install package that blindly defaults to whereever! The only reason I can think of as to why the Canon print folder is that that was the previous install when I first put 5.5 on.
