Webservices fails over VPN

I have a webservice which works fine when in client domain. But when an external machine tries to VPN into the domain tries work the webservices call is failing. Any pointers

What is the error you are getting? can you access the discovery page directly over the vpn? Another thing to check is can you ping the target server to make sure you can access the serer over tho vpn.
