Don't you think the question is too wide? You did not tag your language, library you want to use, even the platform (because it could be .NET). This makes the question impractical to answer, especially in Quick Questions & Answers. It's better to start with: what did you try so far? What are the particular problems, concerns? Try to narrow down to some set of languages/tools to use.

Besides, why sorting in threads, what's the goal? Responsive UI? What kind? And so on...
