i have installed Microsoft VS 2008 but my sqlserver(2005) is not working ,tried to re install still same prob,is their any s/w which could detect the prob

I think you are not seeing sample databases or even worse SSMS is not to be seen; Sql Server setup is a bit tricky try seeing any manual or someone experienced with SQl installation Best of luck....

I think you assume that when MS Visio 2008 will be installed , the sql server 2005 also get installed with the same set up. and in the same mind you are trying to connect database using Visio code.

That is not the condition
1) MS Visio 2008 is separate installer and that contain sql server 2005 componets that need to communicate to sql server.
2) you have to install sql server 2005 from the sql server set up

thanx bt before it was working well,as i was using databases by- rt click and add new item -add sql server data base,it was working fine,now i have to use access database
