Solution 2

Barcode readers scans the barcode and give you the required result
you dont need any extra programming for it.
Barcode scanners read the barcodes as text
Actually barcodes are fonts.
Don't belive me take your Barcode Scanner open Wordpad in it (if its Windows CE )
or any other text document and scan a barcode u will see the encoded data.

Most of the barcodereaders use serialport or TCP/IP, in industrial use communication with readers must be safer then keyboard like readers can provide. They are also cannot be controlled from the application, such as triggering.
