Solution 1

That's kinda pointless. If it's not accessible, what good is it? You can restrict permissions ona user-by-user (or group) basis, but this will only work on a system where only the system administrator can access it, and the current logged in user is NOT that administrator.

You can't. It's that simple. There is no way to protect the contents of the USB flash drive from viruses unless the host system you plug it into already has a virus scanner installed and running.
