Problem On Edit In GridView

I have a problem in ASP.NET application ,when edit a row in gridview the label in gridview change to textbox then after save show an error "String is in incorrect format",
why the label is change to like a textbox style in editing.

How can you edit(enter text) using label??

What string are you trying to and to what.
A date/time string to database?
