i added 3 items to the menustrip's options menu (file,language,exit) after which i compiled the application then added 6 more items to the second(language) item's submennu after compiling i executed the application which ran perfectly showing all the items and sub-items in the language option but then i wanted to add 4 more items to language this time after adding four more items to the language sub-menu when i compiled and executed the application the language sub-menu was only showing me 6 items that i added at the first go and the rest 4 items that i added later are not showing up in the language sub-menu.moreover when i tried to add 1 more item to the options menu,item got added successfully but when i ran the application the fourth item in the options menu was also not showing up.all this was done through the designer and nothing in code.

if i'm not going wrong then basically what's happening is that the property in example two is of reference type since we are using integer array as a return type and arrays are of reference type. so this property is basically holding the actual address of the memory location where the object is located and since it's a read only property it does not allows modification to the reference where it's actually pointing to ie. we cannot modify the original reference and this is why something like c.Num= new int[]{2,5,7,9}; in an invalid modification in the code whereas c.Num=10 is valid since we are not actually modifying the reference which is not allowed since the property is read only instead we are modifying the actual data in the memory location to where the property in actually pointing to.

ok here the code for the thing that ivé been trying to work out.
FORM1:
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.ComponentModel;
using System.Data;
using System.Drawing;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Windows.Forms;
namespace WindowsFormsApplication8
{
public partial class Form1 : Form
{
public Form1()
{
InitializeComponent();
}
private void watcherToolStripMenuItem_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Form2 f2 = new Form2();
f2.Show(); //this will fire up the next form form2.
}
private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
//nothing here
}
}
}
FORM2:
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.ComponentModel;
using System.Data;
using System.Drawing;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Windows.Forms;
using System.IO;
namespace WindowsFormsApplication8
{
public partial class Form2 : Form
{
public Form2()
{
InitializeComponent();
}
private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
FileSystemWatcher fsw = new FileSystemWatcher();
fsw.Deleted += new FileSystemEventHandler(ondelete);
fsw.Path = @"d:\";
WaitForChangedResult wfc = fsw.WaitForChanged(WatcherChangeTypes.All);
}
public void ondelete(object sender, FileSystemEventArgs e)
{
richTextBox1.AppendText("file deleted");
//MessageBox.Show("file deleted");
}
}
}
on clicking the the menustripitem of form1 a new windowsform pops up which has a richtextbox control that should print out the appropriate messages defined in the eventhandler for each event of filesystemwatcher class eg.when delete event occurs it should print message in the richtextbox control that a file has been deleted.this works fine for the messagebox.show() function however when i try print the message in richtextbox control application closes.

@OriginalGriff:ok i think ivé managed to understand a bit of this.stream class is an abstract class and the method getresponsestream() of the response class just create an instance of stream class and returns this instance to the stream class as return type and this is what usually happens when a class variable refers to some method of another class.what i am confused with is, how an instance of abstract class gets created since its illegal in c#.
