Then my friend you can try something like below:
have the update statements in a batch, put them in a stored procedure and have a variable act as a flag. I mean to say, when all the updates are successfully executed, set the flag variable as 'Success' or anything else.
In your UI code, check the flag value and then retrieve the updated data set from the Db and bind your gridview.
Its just an idea, I know you will have your questions, but keep this as a reference and try to build something with the above idea in mind.

@Stephen..I don't think there is any binding for https..basicHttpBinding, wsHttpBinding work for https if we have the security mode as transport.
I have created https binding using 'Edit bindings' in IIS. https is configured to use port 443. Any other thoughts? If you have any sample and stuffs can you post them here...

Hii Mr. yloginov...thanks for all the suggestions, somehow I am able to populate my dropdwonlist..changed my window.open to window.showModalDialog to get back a return value.For the time being its working fine..Do you have any idea as to how can I postback the dropdwonlist on its click..I mean to say there is some legacy code written by somebody else and I hv to fix that.I would give you a detailed explanation.
For the very first time, if a user clicks on dropdown, only Selected should be visible.
Then he can open the popup and create a new view and this view shall be populated in the dropdown. These 2 work.
Thridly, if he/she closes the browser or somehow the browser gets closed, he/she should see Standard as well as the view he/she has created, which is not happening. The code is such that on close of the browser if a postback occurs, then his/her views will be visible. Can I use AutoPostBack=true in this case only for the dropdwonlist?
Any thoughts..Thanks for your time though..

btnOK_Click gets called after the Page_Load of the usercontrol..If my button OK was a HTML control, i could get the code to work, but the ASP.NET button control is giving me problems...so as per me, the hidden button stuff is the only method left...do you have some sample code or something?

On the SelectedIndexChanged event of the dropdownlist, bind your textbox to a datasource which will be basically a datatable having the results from your SQL table. these results wil;l be actuallt the names of the states.

Hi, I understood your scenario.

The required field validators will actually show their text besides the textbox itself, to which they are applied.

So I suggest, in this case, you may remove all the required field validators and call a Javascript function on the Submit button click.Check whether the textboxes are filled and display an alert or write the error message on to a label near to the submit button.Something like this:

You can call this Javascript function from the C# code behind on the button click as below:

Hi,
What does your column RowCDate denote?Is it a DateTime column? If yes, then I guess you need to set your user defined variable @PackageStartTime as DateTime.
Try it....Everything apart from this looks fine in your code.

hi...i guess you can just define your connection string in a normal way...

you were trying to retrieve the providerName via the code they have given in the website..i don't see the necessity of it...try to give the connection string as above and remove the dbprovidername code from your total code and it should work...try it

hey, u might want to check this link...it has something which might interest you. Basically you will have to create event handlers for each button and on the main button click you will have to have a nested loop to see which button has been clicked...Check out this link:

Hi,

Aren't you selecting the buttons from the list of buttons?
If you are thn i guess you would know which button has been selected initially and else.
Put breakpoints on every single button's click event handlers, then when as you click the buttons, the corresponding event handlers will be invoked and you might get a clue as to which button is getting clicked first. Try it...

Hey,
i dont think there is any pre-defined method or function as such, but may be you can write a sp, where you might wana count the number of 'and' and 'or' keywords, after the where clause.
You would have to do some customizations so that the sp doesnt take into account the sub-query and stuffs.
And in the end if you are bale to make out the correct number of 'and' and 'or' keywords, then add one to them and you would get the count of conditions in the where clause.
You might wait for some experts opinion too.

Hey, You can have an event called OnBlur() on the HTML input box.
And OnBlur will be defined as a Javascript function.Whenver the first input box looses focus your text in the second input box would change.

Hi, I guess you can use lil Javascript trick to dynamically induce a field near to the grid view. Javascript provides a method similar to createElement and AppendChild.

Hi, It doesnt matter whether urs a web app or a win app...Page_Load() and stuffs are quite common and yes .NET framework supports VB.Net too, hence i guess you can implement the above via VB.net..:)...i wrote asp.net coz i thought you wud be havin some troubles in ur web app..nevamind...

No i dont think so.MouseEnter isnt a predefined event of an asp.net Button...You need to add code for MouseEnter..have a look at the asp.net Button class..you might get some idea...

your question is not clear..what platform are you targeting to perform this task?
Have you considered the option of having SQL tables?
In my opinion, you would be having a large datawarehouse from where you need to extract your relevant data and stuffs...This can be achieved by using SSIS in SQL..
