I tried it and after clicking the button the selected file "disappears" from the FileUpload Element. I suppose, because the page is loaded again. Is there any chance to prevent this from happening?

Thanks for the links. I installed dotconnect, but I cannot add the connection elements into the toolbox of VS 2010 Express. Any ideas why?

Hi, I want to copy&paste the file name into the textbox. However, as soon as I click the button (that triggers this), the file name is pasted into the textbox but the file is no longer selected in the File Upload Element and I wonder why.

I already have some experience in vb.net, so I might choose that. Do you know any tutorials about that?
Just to clarify, I want to access an existing webpage (so I have no connection to this page) and download files from there

So you mean to remove the code in the aspx file and to add this to the code behind? or what should be kept in the aspx?

Could you give an excample (code)?
SQL Statement looks like this: "Select name from person where id = '" + field1.Text +"'"
I'm interested in establishing the connection and then executing this query.
