This is old project created by someone else. I am working on it as of now. I saw documentation about it. But the issue is it is not crashing or giving any error, it is not working few times.

Ok, my application internally calls 2 more applications, i should close them all before calling Quit.

Ok, so for my requirement PostQuitMessage is better.

Hi, when i use PostQuitMessage, application is closed but i am getting nActiveCount before it is closed. Do i need to check something?

Thanks for the response. Application is closed when i use WM_QUIT instead of WM_CLOSE. But i read in few places that QUIT will end the application abruptly whereas CLOSE ends application gracefully.
What is the difference? does MFC need to process something after calling WM_CLOSE? Please clarify.

Thanks for the response, but for Question 2 "How about declaring same function with same parameters many times but different data types of parameters ?"
depending on case to case basis it should call 1st or 2nd function. So if i declare both functions in same place and while calling if i say 3rd parameter as "Const Struct * data then will it call 2nd function?

I cannot change it ADO. I have few other dependencies because of which i have to MFC DAO. The link which you shared also has a comment on not to change to ADO unless there is a reason.
Is there any alternative to make MFC DAO work with accdb file?
Thanks

it is a migration project. Earlier i used VC++ 6.0 to call functions inside VB 6.0 dll using CreateDispatch and COleDispatchDriver. Now the dll is in vb .net and VC++ 10.0 code is not recognizing the latest dll. I am very new to VC++, so please share any example if you have.
Thanks.

Ok. My requirement is to scan a directory in few seconds to see is there any file waiting to be processed. The form and class are common files for many applications. Timer logic and scan should happen in these files only. Can you guide me in this?

here is the code on a high level :
VB Module:
Public Sub Main()
gServ.Activate()
Exit Sub
gserv is the class file name:
Sub Activate(Optional ByRef pblnTrace As Boolean = False, Optional ByRef pstrCarMgrName As String = "")
frmServApp.timServApp.Start()
frmServApp.WindowState = vntWindowState
frmServApp.Show()
Application.DoEvents()
WakeupNow()
Exit Sub
In WakeupNow sub, timer is enabled:
Public Sub WakeupNow()
With frmServApp.timServApp
.Enabled = False
.Interval = 20000
.Enabled = True
End With
Exit Sub
Wakeupnow sub executes correctly and after returning to gservapp class file the timer is still true. When it comes to Exit Sub in Main(), timer turns to false.

Is it possible to share some example program which suits this scenario?

It's a migrated code from vb 6 to VS 2008. The code was working in vb 6. After migration, i checked the timer is working but it stops when i exit vb class file.

Hi,
Can you share example of oledb instead of ADOX.
I have to use adodb or oledb, i am getting list of tables using GetOleDbSchemaTable, but i am not able to access the columns inside each table in .accdb.
Thanks.

Moving the project to a shallower folder solved the problem for me without changing anything in code.
Thanks

It is clearly defined in vb .net dll. The problem is, earlier vb 6 exe was using vb 6 dll which was working perfectly fine by directly calling enum member without its enum name.
But now, vb 6 dll code has been migrated to vb .net and the new vb .net is referred from vb 6 exe which is failing to calling enum member unless i use enumname.member to call.
but based on your comment i could understand that it is not possible in vb .net.

Actually, the vb .net dll is migrated from vb 6 dll. Before migration, enum members called directly without using enum name, hence the same logic applied to vb 6 exe also.
But now migration done only for dlls and exes will still be in vb 6 and without any code changes. I know if i make code change in vb 6 exe it works, but i need to fix the issue by making changes only in vb .net dll.
