kartick, do u want to retrieve name from json using ?
var result = json.name;

then do it like

alert($.toJSON(data.d))

first alert data value and see if it is working then retrieve json.name value and don't forget to put reference of jquery.json-2.2.min.js in ur head tag

in so far as I understand u dont want to delete the data but want to hide it.
The final task of datatable is ,data to be populated in some data control if u dont want some of data rows to populate then u can use filter that will automatically return the filtered data ,means no need to delete neither to hide any row and the datatable will contain all actual value.

if inside gridview_onclick() u can open popup and problem is only to the clicked row... then u can use this .. hope it'll help

fahad i had same problem in my project "bus77.com" whilw booking the ticket.
Then i did it in javascript m storing all value in a text box and then fetching finally on clicking continue button u can see the concept.
