It may have to do with HTML header files (just a thought). Unfortunately I don't have much experience there, so you would have to investigate that. All I know is you can add headers via WebClient.Headers.Add(). You could also try putting your code in a Try/Catch block:

Buddy, you have to provide a little more info than that. I noticed you tagged the post C#, Javascript, and ASP .NET, all of which are very different things. I've never dabbled in ASP.NET much, but I know for a FACT that there is a C# and Javascript FB API, both of which operate differently. Are you making a website? A desktop app? I need more info.

And also, the way it works with Facebook's graph API (that's the name of their central API, which is wrapped differently for different languages), in any sense, you cannot simply get someone's info by just their email. How it works, regardless of the language you use, is you first create an app at developer.facebook.com. It will then give you an app secret and an app id, which you use to generate a unique url. A window must open up, redirecting to said url, and the window will prompt the user to log in to Facebook and approve the transfer of their information. Then, the webpage will return an access token which you can use to get their information.

I would suggest first looking at developer.facebook.com and reading the documentation. If you still can't figure it out, then come back to the forums.

I followed this tutorial: http://docs.python.org/2/extending/embedding.html. My code is identical, except I replaced the args[] with actual string variable names.

I think it has to do with the fact that GetMenuItemInfo is expecting a string for dwTypeData, not a char[]

I just tried this code, and it works! Thanks. GetMenuItemInfo returns true. My only concern is, instead of retrieving the actual string value of the menu item, dwTypeData always returns "System.Char[]". The only modification I had to make to your code was adding a ".ToString()" after your szString assignment to dwTypeData, because according to my struct declaration, dwTypeData is type "string" instead of "char[]". Would this have caused a problem? I based my original post off some PInvoke.Net sample code (http://pinvoke.net/default.aspx/user32/GetMenuItemInfo.html) if it's any help.

Do you really think if I hadn't googled already I would be posting on here? I've searched everywhere. This was my last resort. I need help guys.

Okay, okay. I should probably specify a few things.

1. I am trying to change the minimum/maximum size of EXTERNAL apps (aka not my own application... ones that aren't even .NET for that matter)
2. I am trying to build an alternative shell for Windows specifically, so multiplatform compatible is not an issue for me. I don't care if it's Windows specific. It should be.

I already visited that page... None of the examples actual reference specific pinvoke calls. I guess I should have been more specific... I know it is called using the WindowProc function, and I have yet to find any example code using this or related methods

I've investigated both of these and realized that they're both variables, not actual functions. Which functions would I pair these with? Could you point me in the right direction?

I appreciate the help Richard.. unfortunately, adding the != null conditional doesn't seem to correct the problem. When you referred to "two minutes with the debugger".. where in Eclipse may I find that? The only debugger I've been using is the console..

I would just like to access the information pertaining to the files. Perhaps read some MP3 metadata off them as well.

I should have mentioned that, as strange as this code is, I cannot use (sizeof(x)/sizeof(x[0])) because I am trying to determine the length of an array that acts as a argument to a function. Doing so returns the static size of a generic char* array and will not display the actual size of the array because it is passed at runtime, and the code determines the size before the parameter is passed to the function. I tried everything, and this seemed to be the only working solution. If anyone can contribute a better idea, I would be happy to hear it. Thanks for your help.

I think I know what the problem is... because my XML file is from an online source, it isn't reading it correctly, therefore never parsing, therefore throwing errors... I think I'm gonna try a more web-friendly language, like Python, simply because I can. Thanks for the help anyway though.

Oh... and also, the debugger seems to say something about m_name and m_value in the xml_node being bad pointers (bad ptr)

I would imagine the XML is valid because I originally had parsed it using Linq XDocument in C# and it worked fine. But for cross-platform purposes I switched to C++... Nothing outputs when the exception is thrown. It immediately returns to Visual Studio, opens up rapidxml.cpp (line 1409) and shows a message box displaying the error. I then have to manually stop the debugger and return to the coding window.

How do you do it then? I can't seem to find any place where you can reference libs in a static library application.

Just something to consider.. as stated above.. I can't add *.lib files to my project because my project is attempting to generate a *.lib file. There are no linker properties in the properties box.

Sorry bout the comment... I come from a .NET background so some of my terminology may be off. Anyway, the thing is, I don't get these errors when I don't implement a default class constructor and they didn't exist before I tried creating a class. Which I don't understand.. maybe you could shed some light on. Also, I can't find the linker properties in the configuration properties, most likely because I am trying to create a *.lib file with this class. So not sure what to do.
