Yeah, that link is for NMock2 which isn't really developed any more. NMOck3 took over where that left off, but I think it's developed by different people.
Anyhoo, I've given up on this. It works with C#, can't get it working with VB.Net. Perhaps there's a way, but life's too short.
Back to Rhino Mocks I guess.

Hi Ed, thanks for that.
I'm just waiting for a moment of the IIS Gnome's time to check that out.
One thing though. One of the first experiments tried was to get the FileUploadControl to drop the uploaded file directly into the main directory of the Website. And I still got the same issue.
I'm assuming that IUSR_MachineName (or whatever) would have Read access to that folder.

OK, so what I've done is this. Don't know if it's ideal.
In my page load I fill a hidden Listbox with the valid currencies.
My CustomValidator fires a javascript function that loops through the items in the listbox looking for the currency.
It's working.
Next step, I need to also check the status of the currency. So my Listbox will have items that include the 3 char ccy code plus two chars for status...e.g.
EURUA
To find the currency I search the listbox for a string where the left 3 chars match the ccy entered by the user.
Then I check the remaining two chars to ensure the status is ok.
This crap with the save button was the kick in the ass I needed to do this all on the client.

VS2008 & .Net Framework 2.0
SQL Server DB
When I looked at it first I figured I could handle the validation Client-Side. The amound of Data I need to validate against isn't huge, A table with 3 columns and 10's of rows rather than 100's of rows.
I imagined querying the data on the server and inserting it into the page in some way when I sent the page to the client. (Browser Based isn't my comfort zone).
In the end I couldn't figure out what I needed and I went with a Postback, which worked fine until I hit this problem.
You're solution sounds like kind of halfway between the two.
Any tips would be appreciated.
While you're at it, do you know if it is possible to do what I was thinking? Inject data into a page to enable client-side validation?

OK. I've narrowed this down a bit and can give a much shorter version of my problem.
I have a text box, with an TextChanged event handler, it doesn't matter whether I use AddHandler or simple used the Handles clause on the event itself.
Whether or not that event handler fires at all can be affected by assigning a value to the text property of a completely unrelated textbox.

Yup.
But when you write the coding standards you end up having to answer questions like this yourself.
I'm inclined to use the Publics on Top approach, but I can certainly see the logic in grouping functions, perhaps combined with the use of Regions.

Yeah, I will, what I've brain dumped above isn't particularly clear.
I'll type it up properly with a sample project.
But first, I have a project manager drumming fingers on table wondering why this code isn't in test yet. :-)
Try telling them that Microsoft made it difficult to implement inheritence with MasterPages.

Dammit. How does Microsoft keep doing this to me? I trundle along quite happily solving all sorts of complex issues. Then when it comes to something simple like reacting to the click event of a button on a MasterPage, I find I'm stuck.
Oh well.
Thanks for confirming my fears! :)

Glad that helped.
For simplicity I changed the Multi-Dimensional Array in your question to a one dimensional array, but the principal would also work fine for multi-dimensional arrays too.
I was wondering after I posted whether you wanted to limit the called function so that it could ONLY access the specified portion of the Array.
The above approach relies on the code behaving itself and staying within first..last.
If you needed to enforce that restriction you might have to do a bit more work.
