Are you able to see path in grid.Your column is not filling with value thats why is giving exception when you trying to read the value.

Updation of Visual studio we will not get problem you can do it.As your saying to change connection string you can do that by clicking a button before uploading by accessing tag of web config file.

(1.) storing record in view state and then we can fetch record from it but they raise two question
(a)its makes yr page heavier
(b)Pages number will not be displayed in grid view ( as i told to Maintain from some global variable by storing current page index and next page index.... )
