It is storage issue I store and archiving text and photos in the database soon I will exceed the storage limit of SQL per database, I want to archive the records every 6 months (about 2 GB per 6 months) and recall them when needed, I have hear of olap technology but cant find any tutorial and I want to do it by vb or c# .Net

ok can I archive the database to USB stick and view it from there on the same machine (pc) as the SQL Server main database oe a diffetent pc and then remove the USB stick? What I eant is to have database archived as you said in a removable medium (dvd etc.) and can open it in an same version SQL Server indipendemtly? Thank you anyway for the guide.

nothing yet I think I will add the records to Temporary data tables and compare them not too good with SQL queries but I will google it "select name from etc." to find something, if you know a query that do this comment it but I thing it will need 2 ado Connection strings, right?

I have configured 2 sqldataadapters 1 for master 1 for detail, I have generated 1 dataset from both (right click generate dataset), I dbl click the dataset and in the designer I cinnected the 2 tables of the adapters, in a relationship (drag the mouse from PK tb1 to FK tb2) I have textboxes for the 2 tables and a picturebox for the details (it has a blob field and 2 other fields). I have put buttons to navigate for both master and detail smthng like me.bindingcontex.dataset.position= me.bindingcontex.dataset.position + 1. When I press the next button for the master it changes the detail as well but when I press the button for the detail it goes through all the detail table not just the current master's detail records, I want to know if it is normal since I have created the relationship in the dataset. How I solved it? I insert a query in the detail adapter which has a parameter like search and through a textbox (which has the PK of the master) I give to the parameter the value for the FK of the detail, it works but I was wondering if it can be done without the query or am I doing smthing wrong with the first approach?

the error is being in the "if pocturebox1.image = my.recources._1" and it is in design time and I cannot debug, it is not in the change image "picturebox1.image = my.recources._2", I found some code "if referenceequals(picturebox1.image,my.recources._1) = true" it does not have an error but not working at runtime, any help, C# is similar to vb.

I have tried it to my serial ata disk and to my ide the same. It is a dual core amd am4 with an asus motherboard 4 gb of memory, 3 hd (2 serial ata 1 ide) and I have never had problem like this before, I was installing my win xp perfectly, I even remove a dim of a memory to lower memory to 3 gb (win xp don't recognize above 4 gb) but all the same, it is the first time that this problem came up. I even scan disk the disks but there is no problem, maybe something with the mbr?

I am trying to put my program to startup, it connects to an sql database and adds edits deletes records, but when I put it it loads before sql server and cannot connect to it, I have tried sleep(seconds) but it is a little uncomfortable sometimes loads before sometimes after. So I want to load sql server first and then my program from startup so it is connected properly.
