As far as I can see, the problem wasn't in the generation of the SQL, instead it happened while reading from the database.

As the error message states, the problem occurred in conversion from datetime2 (data type in SQL Server) to datetime (type in C#). So if that's the case, the problem wasn't in inserting but in reading.

The error means that the column that you're referring to, needs to be indexed, preferably a primary key or unique. The same message also occurs when the data types do not match in corresponding columns.

Yes that's a length limitation for an index. Based on the SQL statement you've shared I see no reason to include value in the index.

Well basically you have the same kind of error here. If multiple rows are updated the select statement fails since a single variable can only hold a single value.

Another thing is the condition. In comparison you have used LIKE which is for characters but the variable is defined as int, so there's probably some kind of mismatch.

Looking at the error message in raiserror, it looks that updating the year is prohibited so in this sense you either need to change the logic in trigger you posted in the original question (preferred way) or disable the trigger when updating the data (may lead to problems).

Disabling a trigger is not mandatory. Most likely the trigger is preventing you from updating the rows. What does the trigger Update_StavkaKataloga_GodinaKatalog look like?

Don't remove it from the directory, remove it from your project. This ensures that the database is not copied each time the project is built.

If needed, you can copy the database to a whole different location and use that location in your connections string. This could clarify the situation.

In order to get to know a language, it's important that you try and experiment what happens with your code and when you change it.

For example try using the debugger and remove the elif section. Now when debugging, investigate the variables and see what happens.

Try using the debugger. When you run the code line-by-line you'll notice that you enter the for loop only once, the value of i is 1 and the result for triangle is 1. So in the first iteration you compare 1 (i) to 3 (x) which is not equivalent and the program returns 3.

Having that said, you need to reconsider the loop so that you test all relevant positions and once done you decide if the number is triangular or not

When you run the code, are you sure that label1 really contains a date? Based on the error message the text in the label seems to be "label1".

Place a breakpoint on that line and investigate the text property of label1. What does it contain, could it be that you haven't yet used the date time picker and the label1 text still contains the default value...

SQL Server 2005 had it's own setup just like newer versions. If you have SLQ Server 2005 installed, try locating it's setup, run it and remove Management Studio from selected components.

However, note that support for SQL Server 2005 ended 10 years ago so I'd strongly suggest moving to new versions.

Binding is not the same as joining. In your query you join the tables but once you have fetched the data, you bind it to the user interface, that's when the problem occurs.

It's easy to test, comment out the following line from your code

rptrsize.DataBind();

Now when you run the program it probably runs okay but no data is shown in UI. This happens because now you haven't set the data source and binding does not happen. If you add the row back, the error occurs.

If this is correct, then it proofs that the problem is a mismatch between the data column names (the column in the data table) and the names used in UI binding (Eval("catname")). In other words, there is no column catname in the data table.

What is the error you're getting?

One thing to ensure is that you have proper indexing in place. For example check that ID field is indexed in products table.

Not sure I still understand. Query2, query3 and query4, they all return only one row and a single value. On the other hand query1 returns multiple rows.

In that case you need to return it from the subquery in order to be able to use it in sorting in the main query or add ORDER BY clause to the inline view. However, I'd suggest returning the value from the inline view since it allows you to combine sort criteria from multiple tables.

In terms of SQL you wouldn't update the record. Instead when the student moves to then next year, you add a new record. This way you have both current situation and the history in the junction table.

If you're worried that the value gets too high, I don't see this as a problem. The max value for an integer is 9'223'372'036'854'775'807 so if you have 10'000 rows per day it would take roughly 2'526'951'242'973 years before you hit the limit.

So as said I'd still recommend not resetting the value since it introduces different kinds of potential problems. But if you decide to do that, you would use ExecuteNonQuery just like you do with delete.

A common reason for that exception is that the user running the application does not have access to the folder specified.

The important thing is the account that is running the code. For example if the code is run from a service under local system account then it has no access to network resources even though you may have those privileges when logged into the same computer using a different account. The same could happen also for example with ASP.NET applications if the service is run using an account without proper privileges or for example when using remote debugging.

So using appropriate account is one option and another option could be to impersonate user in code, see c# - Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.error while accessing other server - Stack Overflow[^]

Locking is basically waiting in queue so I would prefer using the existing mechanism over creating a custom one.

The difference in locking the data during select is in the type of the locks. When the select is run and update lock is required, no-one else can update that specific record until you release the lock. With the default behaviour, even if you have selected the data someone else can start updating it and ask for X lock since only S lock is acquired during select.

It's quite possible that OP has left something relevant out. If that's the case, let's hope they give more info :)

Also note that it's not a good idea to use MD5 for hashing. For more details, see PHP: Password Hashing - Manual[^]

When checking if the passwords match, don't hash them yet, use the input from the user as-is.

But after the check is complete, do not store the password as plain text in the database. Instead, hash it just like explained in the article I referenced.

One thing crossed my mind. Depending on the database system you use the word month could be a reserved word. If that is the case try surrounding it with brackets [month] (or whatever mechanism used in your database).
