Thanks for the nice article. Some additional thoughts :-
One way to deal with legacy code is start refactoring.But before you do refactoring, make sure to have a unit test in place for that functionality and to make absolute sure not to break anything existing. "No Harm" is the first rule of refactoring. Reafctoring should be done in "Baby Steps" to make sure nothing is broken.

This is a very useful trick. This allows me to use keyboard to open folders or execure programs and hence speed me up.
