It's not really that of a secured application but as I tried it in my test PC it does not interfere with the normal functions of the application I need to protect. It will be nice to have a better third party encrypting application, so I am still looking and will all possible options. Also when it hid the whole directory and I change folder settings to view hidden files and folders and show protected operating system files, sure it did show the folder but double clicking the folder it says that its inaccessible, thus I considered it as a plausible answer

Im not so sure if that's possible for me, first is that I'm not much of an expert when it comes to that, and second I still dont fully understand how the apps loads everything before it displays its UI

I like those article and maybe I'll try to add them to my applications but the problem is that I am not the one who developed that app, the dev's are nowhere to be found and I just need to protect that config file, it will not matter whether they create any number of accounts, the app will still read that fixed particular file in the directory it is saved to

the problem is Im not the one who made the app so basically I can't implement new security protocols with it. And sadly the devs are now nowhere to be found. They provided the app in an as-is basis and not even open source

I've reread your answer and to clarify and answer your question about :
"No matter... who owns who? Does the Panel own the MenuStrip? Is the MenuStrip created in another class?"
MenusStrip and FlowLayoutPanel are owned by the MDI container form, whereas there are about 5 buttons (I'm planning to add one or two if needed) that are owned by the FlowLayoutPanel

sorry for this late reply, but when you say
"Not only is using MDI today a mistake (it's outmoded, visually clunky, there are better alternatives)"
what other alternatives are there? I'm curious about those alternatives, but as of today I prefer not to code my application from ground up "again". I just want to know if its possible in MDI to make such control truly transparent; and if its not its ok for me :)

its not entirely a requirement, though i am almost finished with the application and it would take some time to migrate to wpf; at the moment i am just doing some UI work to make the app look appealing.
Regarding the link, it describes more about child forms, the menu strip and the panel are within the mdi parent, i am asking for a way to make those control transparent, be it code implementation or if not a work around in the control themselves

I finally got it :) thanks so much! I failed to realize that I would be needing to convert the string[] to string. (How stupid of me.) anyway thanks for that great answer.

I was able to get it to work by putting it in a separate class but the result it returns is just System.String[]

Sorry but I got an error : Cannot implicitly convert type 'string[]' to 'string', though I dont see red lines on the part where the VS told me where the error is, but it says the error is on the "public string[] IniReadSection(string Section)" during build I cant get it to work.

the null value only returns the keyname I used, not the value of the whole section. Tried also with empty string and "" with no results.

Sorry for the late response and thanks for that solution! the link was a very helpful one though I noticed that when the readini on that class was called it only returns the line that is directly after the "=" of the key, what I need is to read the whole section(even if the section contains around 10 lines) not just a single line after the key. I tried putting away the key but I get some errors on it. What other options do I have here? BTW I'll be trying to tweak the code.

i wonder, on this part of your code
string.Format("[pkfield:'{0}',field1:'{1}',field3:'{2}',fied4:'{3}']", pkfield,field1,field3, fied4)
is it possible for me to use the xml schema of the table? since the real table has around 65 columnms

i see, but i really can't remove the text field from database since that's where the main application read its data, the utility i'm making is just for updating records that are found to have clerical errors. I'm trying out your solution now :)

will that method not consume so much time to run? because what you suggest is just like what @nayan ambaliya said in his comment, update a field reconstruct field5 then update field field5

would it still produce the same format as my example? as i said that string format is created by an application so if i update that string it should still be readable by the application that produced it
