I put it together on windows with the output purely for windows, I am not personally aware of how the difference of newline character-sets are handled between OSs. Environment.Newline uses that which is present for the OS on which the software is running. It might be worth some testing on your part to check.

are you attempting to remove specific lines (separated by newline characters) or sets of substrings denoted by start-point and length?
