I think you will have to construct a path that corresponds to the opaque parts of the bitmap and use Control.Region[^]. I thought there was a way to specify a mask for controls but I can't find it.

"Transparent" is not transparent in Windows Forms. You cannot set the Backcolor of a control to Transparent and expect to see through the control. It doesn't work that way.
Transparent tells the control to take on the background properties of the control that contains it. So, if you set the Backcolor of a Form to Black and the the Backcolor of a Button to Transparent, the Button will be Black, but not because you can now see through the Button.
You cannot see controls "through" another control. Why? Because, in Windows Forms, window elements do not waste time painting regions of themselves where another control is obscurring them. Hence, you can't see any controls through the "transparent" regions of an image.
The image may be transparent, but the control painting it is not, no matter what the Backcolor property says.
Now, WPF is very different. It's not Windows Forms and doesn't have the same limitations. WPF can do what you want, but the learning curve for it is very steep.

Thanks for the info. I am not looking for a tranaparent control. I am drawing the image with Graphics.DrawImage(). I just need to draw it after the the forms controls are drawn so that it is on top. The framework is forcing me to draw it before the rest of the form, I was hoping there might be some way around this.

Without knowing which version of Windows you are targetting, we can't really give you a definitive answer as network connectivity monitoring was enhanced post XP. A good starter, though, is this[^] article. Pay attention to the comments which link out to the Code Pack - this includes networking samples you can modify as you see fit.

which is in NetworkInformation namespace . This event raised when network connection status is changed . Is it a good way to use this?

It's one way to do it, but I have found under certain circumstances that it's not 100% reliable (for instance, I know of people who have found it not to work with static IP addresses when detecting reconnects).

Yes. You can subscribe to something like the Google Translate API. However, the question is, will the quality of the translated text be sufficient? Also, do you want to display Anglicised versions of the translated text, or Kanji (in which case, you will need the appropriate fonts installed)?

Yes, but the problem is having complete dictionaries and syntax analyzers for both languages. I know nothing about Japanese but I doubt if this would be a simple project. It may be possible to use the Google translate feature in your program; take a look at the Google developer pages.

Just to further Pete o'Hanlon's post.
The quality of the translation seems to depend heavily on how close the languages are to eachother. If I put French or German into Google translate the results are pretty reasonable. I regularly need to translate Arabic into English, often the results are impossible even to get the jist of. My guess is Translating Japanese --> English and back will be pretty bad, but Japanese into one of the related East Asian languages less so.
Even then you don't have control over the process of the text comes out. An internal memo in Arabic about a student travelling with text that meant something like "She had two choices an easy way and a difficult way. She went the difficult way" into English "She made a choice between a soft one and a hard one. She took a hard one." I forget the exact wording, but it wasn't far off this. You end up surprisingly often with unintentionally funny or smutty translations, something that you may want to avoid for your clients.
Writing your own translator is hard Google has large teams devoted to the problem, and you see the results. My advice is to use a good [human] translator and swap languages in code.

Hello!I have a problem.I try to make a program which when I press a button my program execute this:

HttpWebResponse rsp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse();
The problem is when the url is not valid my program is blocking at this sequence: HttpWebResponse rsp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse();
What can I do for my program show me a message when the url is not valid?

What does "the url is not valid" mean?
When I try string url = "http://www.google.con";, I receive a DNS error ("could not resolve name").
When I try string url = "http://www.google.com/blah.php";, I receive error 404 ("not found").
I do not know the URL you tried. Try waiting for some time (about a minute), and see if you run into a tme-out. In any case, you should get an exception telling the reason.

Enclose the code in a try catch block and log the Exception message. You'll know why your call failed after the call times out.

If the url is being entered at runtime by the user and you want to validate the url before trying it, then there is no really simple way to do this. In this case you would have to write a validation method before you try the url.
Otherwise, the suggestion you have received already is the correct one.
