Hi I'm making a windows application that when the user selects it opens up a form for them to select the date from. Once they click the ok button it updates the text box on the first form. I have tried doing this a couple of ways:
1)I first tried it through a public method that is called from the click of the ok button and then changes the value.
2)I have changed the modifiers to public so that it can be changed from the second form and have tried to changing the text from here.
Neither have seemed to work it just leaves the text box on the first form empty. I was just wondering if there was a silly little thing that I have missed which is stopping this from working.
Any help is always appreciated.

I am trying to create a password protected installer using c#.net. I have added a textbox(A) type to setup. In my installer class I am verifying this input text (which is supposed to be the password) in OnBeforeInstall() method. What I did is just through an exception from this method so that installation will not take place. However this code fragment is not effective when I installed in my machine. Can somebody advise on the correct usage model?
Here is my code segment:

I am using Crystal Xcelsius, I want to integrate the Web service which is created on C#.net to Xcelsius XLF file. But i am getting proper result when i have my web service and XLF file with one system.
I am getting Error #2170 when web service & XLF files in different systems. Can any one the solution & Reply i will really appreciate

C# - Windows Ce 5.0 - Forms app
The problem: I have several buttons on one of my forms that need to have 2 lines of text in them.
The question: Is it possible to to have the button text on multiple lines? It works in visual studio but on the device or in an emulator the return and newline show up as small boxes.

Hi,
don't know about CE, but on Windows XP/Vista the button text (without any \n\r) wraps as soon as the width is insufficient the hold it on one line, assuming the height is sufficient to accomodate more than one line. BTW: the same is true for a lot of Control types.

Yea - Let's just say I'm jealous. Windows CE seems to be the unlucky and unliked step child of Windows, it misses out on all the fun.
I'm going to make a bunch of people unhappy tomorrow during the design review when I tell them they have a single line to display text on.

I don't know if it's possible directly. You can however create your own class and derive from System.Windows.Forms.Button, and override OnPaint just as you can in WinForms.

I don't supposed you'd have an example of this would you? I'm not that strong of a C# programmer yet and I don't have time to figure this out by tomorrow morning.

I've just tried it and the Button class doesn't want to play ball 
You may have to use Control as your base - but that's going to be a lot of work to make it behave like a button.

Thanks for checking, I'm not surprised though - it's Windows after all.  I'm afraid that I don't have the time to figure how to use Control, I'll just make the design team think up better tags for the buttons.

Hi everyone,
There's a sample in MSDN about playing a wave sound (Here[^]).
I just copied the code and paste it in my application but when I try to play a wave sound from a path, I have DllNotFoundException exception. Here's the full message:
Unable to load DLL 'CoreDll.DLL': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
What is this CoreDll.dll? I searched my PC but nothing found 
What should I do? Am I missing some references?

"This example defines the Sound class that provides the following native code functionality by using CoreDll.dll in Windows CE"
does that ring any bells?

Normally a web browser is running everything in a sandbox, so that you can't access the registry.
But it is possible to use an ActiveX-Control (works in IE) that can access the registry through the .NET Framework classes.

First you would implement the functionality to access the registry in an assembly.
Then you have to wrap (use) the assembly in a COM-Component. This could be done by creating another assembly that will serve as COM-Component, referencing your assembly that makes the registry access. This Component has to be registered at the client machine, so that you can access it through the IE. There are possibilities to auto-install the COM-Component (ActiveX)...

1. create a user control using c# and compile it.
2. creating a simple web apllication(aspx) and adding a reference to my user control(browsing to the dll file).
im confused about the following steps.

Well, wrap the user control within another assembly. Mark this assembly as COM-Interop (in Visual Studio, go to the settings-dialog of your project and check the "Register for COM-Interop" box). Then you have created an assembly than allows COM-Interop. This assembly has to be registered on your clients PC. You could build a cab file, or a msi that the user has to download and install on his pc (this will register the assembly on your clients PC). There is some kind of automated install, but for this you have to search, because I don't know exactly how this works.
But while developing the app you can test it on your own pc, just build the project on your PC (this will register the assembly for COM-Interop) and then call the assembly with javascript from your website.
This will looks similar to this:

SayHello is a method from your assembly containing a class MyNamespace.MyClass.
