Don't cross post in multiple forums.
The list has to be specified in order, starting with the object or container you're working with, then specifying it's container, then that container's parent, and so on, up the chain. Every specifier should be a child of the container to the right of it.

Hi All,
I want to search all text files in a Drive.
here is a code to get subdirectories ,but there is problem in returning static data.

return childDirs;

ERROR :: can't return static data.(something other)

That's because System.IO.Directory isn't a type. You can't create a Directory type variable. It's a static class containing methods.

I would like to have multiple instances of a windows service (one for each customer) running on the same server. So far my only solutions have been to change the name in the project installer and rebuild the setup, or use a non-friendly transform file (feels like a hack) in Wise.
Ideally, the setup program should ask for the name of the service and install appropriately. (So I don't have to recompile or re-instruct the installer tech.)
I cant find any way to do it with the built in setup and deployment projects. Does anybody have a similar experience or possible solution?

The class could have a ServiceName property (or public readonly string) that the installer can use.
When instantiating each service the underlying property could be set appropriately.
I'm at the point now where I have a database table containing service configuration; the EXE reads it to find out what services it should run, loads the DLLs, instantiates the appropriate classes with their names and descriptions and such, and runs them.
To create a new service I need only derive a class with the method it should execute, add a row to the configuration, and uninstall/reinstall the EXE. Each service is in its own DLL; the EXE needn't be recompiled.

Hi, hope every one is doing fine.
i am developing application in C# 2005, my requirement is to call the exe of SQL Server 2000 Query Analyzer using code, which i did by using:
Process.Start("C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft SQL Server\\80\\Tools\\Binn\\isqlw.exe");
it is working fine, now i want that when user opens the SQL Server query analyzer it automatically open a specific database. is it possible? can i send database name as parameter? or there is any other way to do it?
Any kind of help is appreciated, thanks in advance

Well, you can pass parameters like this:
Process.Start("Application Path", "Parameters");
... i think.
If it actually takes a parameter, i don't know. Just pass the path to the file, and see if it works.

If the process you are starting supports command-line parameters, then you can send them by using on of the overload of Process.Start method

You'll have to find out if SQL Server can take a paramater at run-time, and do something with it. I'd assume that it can, but if it doesn't you can't do it, obviously. You'll have to find the paramater switches, such as "netstat -o" or something like that. If you find whether or not they are supported, and find the paramater switch you want to use. Something like this would do what you want:
Process cmdLineProcess = new Process();
cmdLineProcess.StartInfo.FileName = strFile;
cmdLineProcess.StartInfo.Arguments = strArgs;
cmdLineProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
cmdLineProcess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true;
cmdLineProcess.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true;
cmdLineProcess.StartInfo.RedirectStandardError = true;
cmdLineProcess.Start()

I am using VC# GDI+
When i click on the form, a rectangle with Tracker (with resize and rotate options) is added.
I can resize rectangle by dragging the corners of the rectangle (tracker).
I can rotate it too.
When the rectangle does not have any rotation, if i drag the topleft corner, the logic is moving Rectangle's X and Y position and modifying the width and height, then it works fine.
But the question is that after i have rotated the rectangle (ex:30 degrees), the TopLeft corner dragging will take something wrong with the Top/Left moving and width/Height modifying logic.
How can I correctly resize the element which has been rotated? or how can I correctly calculate the Top/Left displacement through the TopLeft corner dragging?

Hi. I have an extension method which takes 2 parameters, fist is this parameter and second is my real parameter of type bool.
I have to invoke that method asynchronously. I make a delegate for that method with my second parameter
delegate void WorkingMethodHandler(bool condition);
When I invoke that delegate with BeginInvoke, EndInvoke throws an exception that my method requires two parameters not just one. But if I try to make delegate which takes two parameters, it does not accept my method because it doesn't have that signature.
Can somebody help.
And, please, avoid answer like make it a regular method, I need to have that method as an extension.

Can you show us the you have?
If I do:
public delegate void MyDelegate(string arg1, bool arg2);<br />
public static class MyExtensions<br />
{<br />
public static void DoStuff(this string arg1, bool arg2)<br />
{<br />
}<br />
}
and call it with:
MyDelegate del = MyExtensions.DoStuff;<br />
del.BeginInvoke("hoi", false, some, thing);
It works just fine.
So delegates to extension methods works just fine..
Extension methods are just normal static methods with a little bit of metadata that the editor can handle.
My guess is that you are trying to assign the delegate from an object?
Like:
MyDelegate del = someObj.DoStuff;
In that case, it wont work, you have to reffer to the extension method itself, not the syntax sugar that vs.net provides.

Hi,
I need to select some data from my DB where the date is only today, so i do a between (startDate and endDate). It was working fine with the below code:
DateTime betweenStart = new DateTime(DateTime.Now.Year, DateTime.Now.Month, DateTime.Now.Day, 0, 0, 0, 0);
DateTime betweenEnd = new DateTime(DateTime.Now.Year, DateTime.Now.Month, (DateTime.Now.Day + 1), 0, 0, 0, 0);
It stopped working today, because todays date - 31th Jan - is not a valid date with the above, eg: 31 + 1 = 32nd Jan.
So i tried using the Add method on DateTime, but whatever i add - hours, days, seconds - it never changes anything.
betweenEnd.AddHours(24);
The only thing i do with the DateTimes after creating them is to do a ToString().
Anyone know of a better way to get my solution or can see what i am doing wrong?

Will not work because you'd need to do something like:
var betweenStart = DateTime.Now.Date;
var betweenEnd = betweenStart.AddDays(1); Because DateTime is a struct then you have to assign it back to the same variable (also note the DateTime.Now.Date property which returns the date part only, thus elimintating your extra bit of code).
