Other than that I don't see anything wrong. Could you check the machine and see if ValidateAdminCodeSignatures[^] is defined as 0x1? Is this a workstation subject to domain policy?

No the workstation is not subject to domain policy ,.. the only this is that UAC is enabled on the machine ..

Hi randor,
After cahnging this value to 0 I was able to run the application , but before that I was presented the dialog that UAC does asking user to allow the executable to run with Admin permission . can this dialog be emitted permanently ???

Well I have no idea what you just asked me. But I think your asking if the registry key can be changed permanently. Yes you can just keep ValidateAdminCodeSignatures[^] defined as zero. This simply tells the operating system that executables do not need to be signed to be elevated.
You have another option. You can change the value back to 0x1 and sign your application.

Sorry for the typo again  ..Actually what I had asked you was . Is there a way that for my executable with elevated permissions that windows UAC never asks user about allowing or disallowing my process and it simply allows the exe to be executed..

No that would break the new UAC security model. Your application will be subject to UAC elevation prompts. The user can modify the behavior of the UAC and disable these prompts if desired.

And if my sign and timestamp my executable with a certificate and install the certificate on the VISTA or Windows 2008 client in Trusted publishers , then would this UAC prompt me or will it directly allow me to execute on being invoked ?

Hi Kushagra,
I think the UAC prompt will appear. Although executables signed by Microsoft on Windows 7 can use an autoElevate flag which *does* bypass this UAC prompt. The internal details about this seem to be undocumented. I do not know if it works with third-party trusted signers.

Before I give you some question, i hope you guys understand me who can't do english well, thank you.
i'm a little bit nervous...
anyway... my question is... I've been progrming s/w sharing mouse & keyboard between two computers.
First of all, I did global hook for mouse on the server(?). And I can send a mouse coordinates to client.
but when i move the mouse cursor on the server, client & server mouse move at the same time.
so i want to move cursor of client's cursor only first.
how do i do that? do i delete CallNextHookEx() to not send mouse message to Server?
it took me 30min to write this post... it's very hard for me to write somthing in english....

You could try not calling CallNextHookEx().
If that doesn't work, you can try installing a WH_GETMESSAGE hook and filter out the mouse messages.
The hook procedure could then not send or modify message into something like WM_NULL so that nothing is done.

Hello. Couldnt find a WinAPI / Console forum, so I guess it goes here.
I've made a console applicatione interface with two buffers, I need to write data to an inactive buffer, and then read the data to my active buffer. So far I'm writing to the second buffer with:
WriteConsole(snBuf, foo.c_str(), foo.size(), &filled, NULL);
The problem is, WriteConsole writes everything char by char, the result is fine, but its rather slow.
I would like to write with the WriteConsoleOutput() function, however, you need to put all the text in to a CHAR_INFO structure. I can't seem to be able to put more then 1 char into CHAR_INFO at a time, E.G: chiBuffer[0]->Char.AsciiChar= "A"; I would like to input a string in to chiBuffer, but it accepts just one char... So I would be forced to use a for loop, that inputs one char at a time... Is there some other way to fill a CHAR_INFO structure with a string?

Hi! It's my first msg in code project!!
Here is my question.
Q. I modified overlay icon which is already registered.
But, icon has never changed.
Let me explain in specific.
I made a VC++ dll project to make overlay icon.
And, in project i draw character 'A' as overlay icon.
(I refer the article was written by lallous. - How to overlay an icon over existing shell ovjects in 3 easy steps)
Then, i registered this dll and it works beutifully!!
After few days, i neeeded to change icon. (for example, to character 'B')
So, i opened the project, and i modified icon. Then, i rebuild all.
As i did before, i registered the dll file on the system.
However...overlay icon didn't change at all...
It still has post image which i drew at first time.
I try to reboot or kill explorer and exec explorer.
or regsvr32 /u a.dll and regsvr32 a.dll
and checked registry status... but everything was fine.
I couldn't solve the problem...
Has anyone experience like me...??

How can I construct the line which can adjust its amplitude?
for example, there are 7 points on a line.
I can change the amplitude by point1 to point7 through mouse directly.

What are you talking about? Do you need to find a curve to fit data points?
