Why would you want to? DAO died a merciful death a long time ago. It hasn't been supported in the lastest MDAC's for quite a while now.

Let me guess, you're using VB6? You'd be much better off using ADO[^].

I have no idea what's next because of two things. I don't know what you're trying to do beside some Data Report work and I haven't touched VB6 in about 6 years, ever since I got my hands on the VB.NET 2002 Beta.

But, having said that, Google comes up with all kinds of stuff on the old VB6 DataReport[^] control.

If I have the WDSL is there a way to create my variables on the fly based on what is in the WDSL......I guess I don't understand the importance of what it is beside telling me the datatypes of all the fields.

Also, basically a soap client is an app that receives data in XML format via connecting to some port over tcp/ip?.......Right?

I'm trying to understand how an app is produced when all you have is the WSDL and that it uses SOAP to communicate.

i am building this program and i want it to be able to send some sort of message to another computer based off test results. If the results come back bad i need the program top flag another computer. I have never done any thing like this so i was looking for ideas??

OK. You'll need to write two apps, based on TCP/IP sockets or .NET Remoting.

The first will be the processor of the data and send out the resutling message. You'll also need to writing something that tracks which machines to send the messages to.

The second app will run on the client machine that will recieve the messages. When this app starts, it needs to "check-in" with the server to let it know that a client is listening for messages. It'll work something like the ubiquitous chat application, or which there are hundreds of examples out on the web.

i guess you mean over a network? Well if its how i imagine the program to be you will need to create 2 programs, a server and a client one, the first one will be the one which creates the message and the second will be the one which will recieve it. So you will be using an interface to connect over network, if using windows winsock would be a good guess, so the client will listen waiting for the results. By bad i guess you mean that it is below/above a certain level, and it would be fairly easy to do an if statement to catch that.
However your message is a bit vague, am i talking along the correcr lines?

Populating Gridview on the basis of Textbox

Hi all. I have a textbox in which i will add "Comments" on aspx page along with an Add button. On this page , i have a gridview as well. The problem is,

When i enter value in TEXTBOX and press ADD button, the value in textbox should have to be populated in Gridview without PAGE REFRESH. Please make sure the current scenario.

I have a table ABC with a column Comments. I pull Data from ABC table in Gridview. so, when i add value in Textbox and press add button, basically it will save first in ABC table and then refresh the gridview behind the scene. Please let me know How I can achieve it. Thanks for your consideration

Your question should be posted in the Web Development or ASP.NET forums. What you want can only be done in client-side script since you don't want a post-back to the server.

Selecting current email

Hi,
I am trying to select the current email from someones inbox (not open one just the highlighted one) using vb.net + vsto SE from VS 2005, and am having difficulty finding a property that relates to it, I am assuming its would be in the active inspector method? If not would it be part of the MAPI folder?

There is no "current email" as far as MAPI or any other email datastore goes. The "current" email only has any meaning in the application thats showing them. There's nothing that says "this email is selected" in MAPI. Soooo, you're question is a bit vauge.

Are you writing an extension for Outlook?

yes, its an outlook 2003 addin, and i'm trying to mark a selected email in the same kinda way as marking a mail read/unread.

Hi,
I am adding text to a text file but I don't want to have any duplicates. I am searching a system for files and if the file occurs twice I only want it added once to the text file.
If any one can help it would be great.

There are many ways of implementing this...

You could write it to a database table and check if it already exists (probably the easiest method)

You could create a tree structure or some kind of sorted array in memory and search in it...
