I'm just wondering if this would perhaps be a way to filter out a bunch of the questions that simply require a "search google" answer.
When a user is posting a question, before they submit it perhaps they could verify that they have read the first recommendation in the info section below the submit button with a checkbox or a validation that they have understood to "check google" before submitting a question here.
This could cut down on the volume of silly questions that seem to come in to the site.
(Just the ramblings of a cratchety old man on Sunday morning...)

True, but that could lead to an easier way to have these types of questions removed from the pool quickly. These questions don't usually qualify as abusive, so I would be very hesitant to flag them as that, but I still think they should be removed at some point...
But then again, I'm probably just a little to anal retentive about that type of thing.

The easiest way is to actually re-tag blatantlylazy questions with "GoogleMe" or something, and then add this tag to your ignored list of attributes within Quick Answers. We as a community should work towards improving the quality of the questions.

Has anyone else noticed that sometimes, you can't use shift- or ctrl-arrow keys to move around while editing a comment? I went back to try to duplicate it (in Q/A), but I couldn't. The place I noticed it was in an alternate Tips/Trick, which doesn't make sense because it appears to be the same editor as the one used in Q/A.

Exactly right John. I just tested and CTL-Left works fine in a QA comment but not in a Tips/Tricks one; most strange.

When I try to edit one of my comments the editing text area always comes up as empty.
I can edit my Q&A answers just fine (also forum posts). Somehow only the comments seem to be affected by this.
This bug is observed both in FireFox and IE8. Is anybody else observing this?

Add a tab to the home page that shows the article competitions. In that tab page, show four buttons/links on the left side:
Current Month (use the actual name of the month instead of "Current Month")
Previous Month Winners (use the actual name of the month instead of "Previous Month")
Current Feature Competitions
Past Feature Winners
For Monthly Competitions:
Depending on which one is clicked, it will show the competition page for that month. The "previous month" page would show the categories and their winners. The "current month" page would show the current month's competition entries.
Once a competition is completed, and entries have been chosen for the next competition, the page for from the current month moves to "Previous month", and a new page is generated for "Current month" with the new entries.
The end result is that there are always two months of competition immediately available, which solves the issue we have at this very minute that shows no active competitions, and actually finding what happened in the past. Also, although we haven't had the December contest yet, there's no mention of it *anywhere*. The current contest page says there's no contest for January, yet the past contest listing stops at November.

Using FF:
When I go to "My Posts" in Q/A, the Questions tab reveals a mostly blank content area with the items that *should* be in that list posted all the way over to the right side of the screen. Further, the tags panel on the right side overlays the questions, hiding the area of the questions consumed by the panel, but showing the edges of the question div.
The "Answers" tab is correctly aligned horizontally, but vertically, it shows the list of answers top-aligned with the tabs, thus scrambling the text because you can see both the tab titles and the answer items.
