I think I've nailed this issue, though we're juggling 2 versions of IIS so more testing will be needed. Today hopefully.

Today I got astonished, when I was not able to find ASP.NET forum in one go in Programming Discussion section. Later I looked bit and found that now it is grouped under Web Develoment.
Then again, I found one more Web Develoment under Web Develoment, looked bit confusing as we already had a separate forum Web Develoment.
I think we should make it little clear..
Wat say?

Clearly WCF, WPF, WF are different but they were lumped under the same forum at the beginning because, well, probably because they were all new, all little known, and all had a WTF acronym. Clearly it stime they all agreed to just be friends and move on.
I know WPF and Silverlight are not the same - but they share a pedigree, and Silverlight did used to be called WPF/E, so I figured with the traffic they get combining makes sense.
Would splitting WPF/Silverlight be more valuable given that the split fora will get less traffic and I'd porbably remove one from the dropdown menu?

I think they should all be separated. In fact, I think that someone who wants to post a question should be made to go through a wizard (like article submissions) that asks them to idientify the question category via the careful selection of a few checkboxes, and then allows them to post the question, after which, it is applied to the appropriate section of the web site.
I have an idea on how to implement it, but it would take too long to describe it in detail in a message. Painting with broad strokes, the wizard would be a cascading series of actions or placeholders that are made visible depending on what was selected in the previous panel. The user would ultimately be permitted to actualy enter a message, and that message would be placed according to how he progressed through the wiard. That would ensure that the question was posted in the most approrpiate place on the site. This would only apply to programming forums and quick answers.

The wizard idea is something we've talked about for QA. However, if it's all simple enough then a single page with a simple form should be good enough as long as we have sufficient checks in place.
An option for the forums that I started work on then abandoned in favour of QA was to have forum messages tagged as they are in Quick Answers. There would only be a single forum, but with each message taqged you could create partitions or views where you only see the topics you are interested in.

You misunderstand me Chris. I'm talking about moving the WPF content into the said forum. Currently the Silverlight/WPF forum only contains Silverlight questions - the WPF/*?* forum was merely renamed and contains the actual WPF content. It's going to make searching for answers problematic for users.

green menu Articles/Chapters and Sections/C#, after churning away some 10 seconds, presents a long list (a count would be nice!) of articles sorted by Score, with a header line suggesting it is sortable also by title, update date, and author. Alas it isn't.

I feel that these should be separate forums now - considering Microsoft is now going to leverage both these technologies (and not Win Forms which has a separate forum anyway).

I've used Thunderbird for reading the articles for years and about a month or so ago the html rendering in the Thunderbird reader pane has become huge [http://www.aquarius.com.au/tbird.jpg]
Has anyone discovered how to reduce it back to 'normal'?

Our Mobile device browser file we use is completely unreliable. I think it's time to pull it. Pity, since it's open source, comprehensive, and the only thing that seems to have active participation in updating.

That sort of defeats the purpose really of the Thunderbird Newsreader.
I liked the ability to read the first paragraph or two and then scroll down and read the whole article if it interests me. If it grabbed my attention I would then open the page in the browser window.
Clicking "Full Site" opens yet another browser window/tab which I then need to close and then repeat this process for each item - the majority of which don't interest me.
This behaviour only started a month or so ago so somewhere, someone has changed something and as far as I can tell it is most likely a Thunderbird issue.
