You will want to apply your Javascript onSubmit of the form-

<form name="demo" onsubmit="return validateFormOnSubmit(this)" action="action.htm">

And you function would have to return true or false-

function validateFormOnSubmit(fld) {
  var reason = "";
  if (fld==true) {
    reason += "There is an error.";
  }
  if (reason != "") {
    alert(reason);
    return false;
  }
  return true;
}

This will go through validation and pass false with an alert, or pass true and POST the information to action.htm. Good luck!

version history is not working for Custom List Form ( WSS3.0)

Hi All,

I could not find out correctly where to post this question. Finally, I thought web development is the best place to post this.

Version history option is not displaying selected version of list items in Custom List Form whereas its working fine in Default List Forms in Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0.

Any idea to get rid off this issue?

I want to create a .NET website where one of the pages will look like the windows directory structure and the user will be able to download the files/folders.

So basically, I have a bunch of folders on my pc and the website should point to those folders on the website in a similar format and allow the user to download files and zipped folders, etc.

How to achieve this?

Hi,

you can get a directory and file listing with DirectoryInfo.GetDirectories() and DirectoryInfo.GetFiles(). With this information you could build a ListView or DataGridView on your webpage. Whenever somebody clicks on a row in the view, you have to browse to this directory and do the same again (listing all files and subdirectories). If it is a file, you could point the link directly to the file.

Hi All,
I need an urgent help as I am stuck into it since last 2 week.
I am using FBA on sharepoint. I have customize the login.aspx by modifying the simple.master page but I am not able to add webpart on it as this does not inherit webpartpages class.
can any i suggest me how can I add webpart on login.aspx? pls help me out.

Is there a way you can use an usercontrol in place of a web part. I know it is a rude way but may be a simple solution.

Hello, I am new this website so plese bare with me. My company uses 2007 SharePoint and I have access to modify our SharePoint pages using SharePoint Designer. I need help with the following sceniro:

Someone opens a list in the EditForm.aspx view. When they open it they start to select dropdowns, radio buttons, check boxes, etc. However, what I need to know is how do I hide a field in this view until the value of another field is determined?

Example: If Field 1 = "Yes" then Show Field 2 so that the person can resond to it.
If Field 1 = "No" then Field 2 show not show.

I hope I am making sense. Please provide any feedback. I have searched for two days on the Internet and have found one item that relates to this. It was how to permenantly hide a specific field using JavaScript. Here it is:

You would call the Javascript function via the OnMouseOver event from the table cell itself-

<td OnMouseOver='function()'>Dummy Copy</td>

Web Service using COM object

I have a vb.net web service that is using a COM object for a 3rd party piece of software. Currently, if you call the web service multiple times at the same time, it will run up to the point that it calls a function of the COM object. At that point, each web service call sits in line and waits for the previous web service call to finish its call to the COM object before the next one is able to execute its call to the COM object.

This works fine when I have a windows application that is utilitzing a COM object and there are multiple calls at the same time to the same COM object.

What do I need to do so that the COM object can be called by multiple web service processes at the same time?

I have a problem with the character between the C and the s at PC’s it is stored at the database and an email that the page send as PCâ?Ts and other times as PCâ€™s
I read somewhere that it might be an encoding problem, but if that is the case where I should start looking?

Hi,

take a look at the database. If it is stored there correctly then it is an problem of the email (or while reading from the db). If the error is in the database, then the problem could be the way the value is stored or that the codepage of the db doesn't match.

It is stored incorrectly at the database also, the information at the database and the email came from a text field from a page at the site. It is the body from a mail distribution system.

I believe the problem here is that the records are empty so its not moving forward and probably giving out the error.

I have tried to fix it in numerous ways but none succeeded. The error is displayed on the 3rd column, SUPERVISOR.

I hope there are many here who can read the code and probably help me out with a solution, I really am thankful for the help...

I have searched the error up n down on all possible websites and forums, none provide the rite sol.n.

thanks dude, actualy ure earlier reply kinda helped me lot to get to the source of the problem...
This code isnt done by me, the previous developer did it, dat was correct, then some coleague brot it over to another system, just tried to do the same thing but i gess kinda screwed it up...
actualy u see everything other dan Supervisor and the Accessor comes from a different database.
So the Student Id in the DB1 doesnt exist in the DB2 which the Supervisor and the accesor belongs to.
Thats y the error pops up...

URL in action attribute is converted to page name only (for FireFox)......?

I have a frame. I am creating a new form object in javascript.
I have set action attribute to "TestMyPage.ashx"
During runtime, FireFox converts action attribute to full url
containing protocol, host name, virtual dir. name and page name.
e.g.: "http://localhost:4768/MyApp/TestMyPage.ashx"

It is expected that FireFox should load the url in action attribute
on submit when it have the full url.
But when I add the form object to frame, it converts the action
attribute to "TestMyPage.ashx". I don't know what is causing this.
Because action attribute now has page name only, it can not load
the page (it do not have full url now).

Code for FireFox:
