Yes I Get the Values of Text Boxes, The problem lies only in Dropdown List....

In a C# 2010 web application, I would like to know how to convert a session variable that is in a date time format to a string value that displays in a textbox on the web application. I would like to only obtain the date part of the value.

I have tried lots of versions that look like the following:

Date1.Text = Session["Date1"].ToString("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss");

How would you setup this code so the value is acutally set correctly for the textbox?

Well, if you store the current date time in the session, then you might as well format it first before assigning to the session

session.add("Date1", DateTime.Now.ToString("yyyy"))

You need to cast the value you get from the session to a DateTime before you call ToString on it. Something like this (you can probably take out a few parens):

Date1.Text = ((DateTime)(Session["Date1"])).ToString("yyyy-MM-dd");

If you want to show a full date/time, but you only want the date component from the session, you can use the Date property, which will strip out the time:

Date1.Text = ((DateTime)(Session["Date1"])).Date.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss");

I have a Modal Popup Extender which I show on two different Button click events i.e
btnAddNew_Click() & having imgbtnNew as TargetControlID.

the problem is I want Two of the Textboxes txtFullName & txtShortName to be Disabled or Visible false on imgbtnNew_Click()
Where as Visible True on btnAddNew_Click()

Can anyone help....

I think you can ask the sender "sender" who fired the and called the function. I just used it a couple of days ago. You could of just Googled it to get the anwser.

or you can use the .OnClientClick to issue some javascript to change the display state of the textbox from block to none. The javascript is fake, and just meant to give you an idea of how to use OnClientClick

While Executing the asp.net (C#) page. I found an error called Expected ')'. Actually the code block and design block doesn't contain any error..but it representing such error.. need to resolve it. kindly help me to solve this issue

The close brace is missing and you need to find it. Given the amount of code you've shown, I'd suggest looking over there behind the aspidistra.

It could be in a user control. You'll have to find it. If the compiler expects something, you must give it. It is king.

The error will be displayed in your 'Output' window. Double click on the error message and it should take you to the line of code that is in error.
Once at the line in error make sure you have the same amount of matching open and closing brackets.

You error is common with something like e.g.

lnTemp = Len(lsAmount

should be for example

lnTemp = Len(lsAmount)

I would suggest using a jQuery plug-in to do tooltips since you want to do some formatting. Plus, since the text is so long no one could read it all with a standard tooltip because they disappear after X seconds.

Looks like you need to use:
MSDN: VersionControlPath.GetFileName Method [^]

Namespace: Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Common
Assembly: Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Common (in Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Common.dll)

OR
MSDN: Path.GetFileName Method [^] based on what you are trying to do.

Namespace: System.IO
Assembly: mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

System.Data.Common Namespace[^] does not look like the assembly in need here.

Did you copy this code from somewhere else? Common is somebody's namespace, it is not built-in to System. See previous comment on how to get FileName or find the Common namespace in your App.

I am adding some additional code to a C# 2010 web form application that I would like suggestions on how to accomplish the following:

1. I just created an additonal web form page to an existing application so the user can enter more information. I basically want the user to hit the 'back' button so they can return to the original web page and correct the values for up to 4 specific fields. There are two additional fields that the user is not allowed to change.

2. To point the user to the previous page, I do the command, "Response.Redirect("~/Att.aspx"); This works,

3. I want to be able to load all the information the user has entered already when the user returns to this web page. When the user returns to this webpage, the data has already been stored in two tables in the database.

4. Thus I am looking for your suggestion on how to accomplish this goal. I am thinking of the following options:

a. returning the user to the orginal web page in the state it was when they hit the 'next' button to go to the previous webpage. However I do not know how to proceed with this method.

b. Obtain the values from the database, or

c. use session variables. Thus can you tell me what you think the best method would be and examples of code of how you would accomplish this goal?

I would probably use session variables.

The details are all here: ASP.NET Session State Overview[^].

In the OnClick button method on the first page I would store the values in session variables and read them on the next form as required. When you navigate back to the first form repopulate appropriate fields with the session values. I'll leave it you to work out the particulars but the article link above should get you going.

I am already passing data to the second page as session varirables.
When I return to the first page, I would need to pass session variables from page two to page one. I would need to create new session variables for page 1, correct?

Hmm ... I was thinking of getting the data from the database.

My reason for this is that since you are adding functionality to an existing application, then let's assume that "Page 1" is a complete, working entity.

Now you add "Page 2" to the applicaiton and you build it in such a way that it stands on it's own and can store the additional fields. You just now provide a link which would bring them back to "Page 1" which should know nothing about "Page 2" nor the data that it stores.

Nice. Clean.

Now if the data between Page 1 & 2 are more intricately related, it may not be so easy to implement it this way. One thing you should protect against is that the user cannot navigate to Page 2 without completing Page 1.

In that case, you can configure certain controls (those that implement the IButtonControl interface, such as the Button control) on the page to post to a different target page. This is referred to as cross-page posting. Cross-page posting provides some advantages over using the Transfer method to redirect to another page
