Isuse: best setup deployment method and considering IIS
I have some changes to setup/deploy in a 2010 C#,net webforms application. My problem is the web application was written by a contract shop that went out of business. There are no install/deployment instructions that I can find in my small company. In fact I am the only 'programmer' in my small company. Most of my .net expereince is using Visual Basic.net in 2005 & 2008 for windows and console applications.
Thus since this is my first web setup\deployment project and working with IIS, I am wondering if you have suggestions that I should follow? If so can you tell me and/or point me to a reference that I can use?
If not, i will just go to the Microsoft website and follow what I consider is the 'best' url to use.

It's a bit of an open question. You can deploy a web application by using the 'Publish' option. I would start with that - pretty simple to use.

This is not homework. I am doing this at a real job where I get paid. I just got stuck with this job. I am a data analyst by choice.
I am looking for another data analyst job until then I am a programmer.

I think you may have replied to the wrong message. Right click on the project and select 'Publish'. Follow the instructions - fairly easy.

Hi,
The user is using winxp SP3.The user need to have windows authentication.I had checked the web.config file set to Windows.When user access the url the user is taken to form authentication.He need to login with windows authentication.The DB server is
SQL Server is 2008R2, SP1 -- 10.50.2500.0 SP1 Enterprise Edition (64-bit)
They have a Windows 2008 Web Server that has Impact Pro Reporting System installed. That comes with IIS 7 installed. Their workstations are Windows XP and the IE is version 8.

Hi,
Any setting to be changed in workstation,win xp.I had resetting the browser option,that did not work out.
On the Webserver,the windows authentication works.But from winxp workstation windows authentication did not work.
Any idea to make windows authentication work on winxp?

For it to work, the user will have to be logged onto the same domain as the web server is on. Windows Authentication means that the user has already authenticated on their machine and now is trying to access a network resource (your IIS site). If it is still not working check your web.config and share your authentication section. You may be denying certain users.

Your client computer must belong to the same Windows Domain as does your server.

Any reason you told us what database is being used?
Because that makes me think you are trying to pass the user's credentials to the database via the web server and that just isn't going to work without some reconfiguring your network to allow it.
In the meantime, check the settings on your web server. Is anything else enabled along with Windows Authentication? If there is, disable it.

I have two calenderExteners in my aspx page. Named startDate and EndDate and I have one comboBox. If I select Date from calender startDate e.g 20 march 2012 and then in Combox box I select 30 days then my second celander EndDate should show date 20 april 2012 automatically(i.e adding 30 days in statrDate calender's selected date and show in EndDate calender). How can I do that.

i am devloping a project mysql query browser in dotnet with c #.....
i have a datagridview in my form ..
i have to create a table ...
there are many columns like col name ,datatype ,not null,primary key and one col is auto increment .....in auto increment i am using checkbox col ....so i want that when user clicks in one rows aut inc col all other row auto inc col should be uncheck like it happens in mysql query browser but it is not happening in my projcet ....
please if possible provide the code thanx in advance

Not very clear what you are trying to do and why it has gone wrong. There are plenty of examples of using check boxes in grids - you need to do a porper search on Google. You talk about an auto-increment column: what do you mean by this?

ok i will ....auto increment coloumn means only one row cell(auto inc col) will be check at a time ......like group radio button works

Well it looks like from your post that you know you need to supply code for this. Have you written any code to uncheck the other boxes?
If so, it would be benifical to see it to help further. Also let us know if you are getting any type of error messages, or what exactly is happening when you click the auto inc column.

there is a checkbox outside the gridview for checking the inside col cell of gridview and if i chk inside gridview col cell then it checks outside the gridview as it happens in mysql query browser .....thnx in advance

Hi,
You can't do that using Asp.net web project alone, you either need to use Flash Action script or SilverLight with asp.net.
Flash: You need Flash multimedia server also known as FMS for setting up audio video communication between client and server.
SilverLight: You need to develop or your own service as a server application to setup communication between client and server.

Hi,
I am opening a jquery dialog on button click.I am opening panel as dialog.
In that panel there is iframe and in that iframe src I have called the new page.
Popup is opening properly at the first time.
I am closing the popup and by clicking on button to open the popup again.
When I am opening the popup 2nd time I am facing 2 problems
1. If I click on the button 1st time popup is not opening. If I again click the button 2nd time then popup opens. Popup is opening on 2nd click but not on 1st click. I am not able to find out why the popup is not opening on single click and opening on double click.
2. I have TextBox control in popup. When I open popup 2nd time in IE this TextBox control is in disabled state. If I fire any server side event in that page like button click then that TextBox control gets enabled. While in Mozilla Firefox it is working properly. That TextBox control is always in enabled state.
Please let me know how can I solve this problems.

Can you let me know in what event are you using the below code?
ButtonTest.Attributes.Add("onclick","OpenPopupTest()");
You have to add the attribute to the button in an event before the button is clicked. For Ex: PageLoad event.
If suppose you have placed the code in the button click event, the attributes will not be added until the button is clicked for the first time. So when you click the second time the popup will be displayed.
