Hi To all forum members,
I have a search button which search records in the form, then I have to call a java script which return some values, on the base of these values I have I Have to populate Grid View.
Actually
when I clicked on search button
I) It hits to database and takes records and
II) These records are passed to java script
III) Then java script returns a value location.
On the base of java script values and code behind search criteria values i Have to populate grid view.
I am using asp.net and c# technology.
How can achieve all three steps by single click of search button.
Even i am unable to populate grid on form refresh from that java script code.
All three steps I have to perform in Single click on Search button. 
I achieved this but I have to click search button twice.

Why do you want to roundtrip?Why dont you try to simulate the javascript thing in c# itself?it'll also improve the performance.

if you want to do this thing in one go than only one solution is there
use ajax mecanism for that or use jquery ajax which work for you easily in javasript.

Why do you want to do so by using GridView?
I think Repeater Control or List View would be more handy for you purpose.

Hi,
I tried to configured sql report server it was succeded, by the am trying to browse from IIS the created report server & report manager application i got this error as follows,

The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information. (rsServerConfigurationError)
Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\Reporting Services\ReportServer\RSReportServer.config' is denied.

Hi,
just check if the account used by the SQL Server ReportService has access to the path you provided.

Can u please clearly explain ...b'coz..
During Sql Report Server Configuration,
1) Server status - is configured
2) Report Server Virtual directory - is configured and created auto
3) Reprot Server Virtual directroy - is configured and created auto
4) Windows Service identity - used Build in Account (Local Account)
5) Web Service identity - not configured b'coz am using windows 2000 (operating system)
6) Database setup - using Sql Server Credentials and configured
7) Encryptional key - operational paramter
8) Initialisation - Not configured
9) Email Setting - Recomended configuration
10) Execution Account - Recomended configuration
Upto this i was configured..then I am trying to browse the like,
http://localhost/reportserver am facing this error.. i am not understand where is the problem hitting me...can u able to find please..
Error:

Hi Kannak,
1. Does the Windows Service identity (Local Account) access to the file "RSReportServer.config"?
2. Hmmm... the web service identity is not set, don't know if this is a problem. Check if the account your webserver is using has access to the file.

Thanks for responding me... That to am using Windows 2000 professional OS , i came to know no need to configure Web service Identity it will take the MAchine Config file under the IIS by default.
Also Windows Service identity properties are as below,
Service Name - Report Server
Service Account - LocalSystem
Build-In-Account - Local System
Windows Account :
Account -
Password -
Here am using Build in Account not using Windows Account.
I dont know where is problem behind...can u clear this plz...

Ok, so let us try the following. Go to the folder where the config of the report server is located. Then grant full access to "Everyone". Try to connect via browser again. If this works, it is really a permission problem.
Did you enabled Windows authentication for the report web site? If yes, check if the windows account you are using when the website asks for an account has access to the file.

Hi,
could be several reasons:
1. Your machine is too slow.
2. You have many dependencies for your website.
3. Your app_code folder contains a lot of source code.
4. You are creating an assembly from your app_code folder.
So "long time" is relative, does it take half an hour or only 30 seconds? How many dependencies do you have? Do you have many classes within the app_code folder?

Try building project after disabling an anti-virus software. If its fast then you need to add your Project directory and all the Sub-Folders in it to the Exclusion/White List in your anti-virus, so it will not scan the folder when you rebuilt the project.
or try De-fragment on the HDD.
or its time to upgrade the PC

Hi,
since actions with nearly every ASP.NET control work by postback (which uses javascript) it seems impossible. But you could use a HTML-Button for each row to select, which will force a submit, but this will be really ugly...

Hi!
I have a Stored Procedure that groups information by date and calculate the amount of hours. On the Page_Load method I execute the Stored Procedure and then Display a GridView containing the Date and Total Hours.
The problem I am having is that I have added a button and when you click on it, it should get the value from the Date cell.
For example: If you click on the 20/01/2010 row then all the entries for that date should be displayed in another gridview.

so on itemcommand or selectionchange event of gridview fire one query with date criteria and try to bind your second grid view by fetching data form the database

Hello.
I am working on a website. For now whenever I want to test it I would just run it from localhost using IIS. An error occurred after transferring the work to another laptop. Everything ran smoothly until came to the part where there is a need to update/insert data to the database. I got this error saying that I am not able to update the database because it is read-only.
Now the error only occurred when I ran the website from localhost using IIS. The process of updating/inserting when smoothly when I ran the website from Visual Studio.
I searched for every possible solution and found out several ones
1. Set the App_Data folder attribute to not 'Read-only'. - Done that but the folder automatically set back to 'Read-only' each and everytime.
2. Execute the following sql query
ALTER DATABASE bcancer SET READWRITE - Done that also but still the database is in read-only mode.
Can somebody help me out on this? Thank you very much for your attention.
