Handling ADO Mohamed Asane12-Jan-10 22:57 Mohamed Asane 12-Jan-10 22:57  Hi Guys, Can you someone advice me handling database in asp.net Which is the best practice either closing database & recordset (i.e. sqlcommand,sqlreader etc) connection as soon as getting the required data or just closing the recordset(i.e sqlreader, sqladapter) and retaining the database connection(i.e sqlcommand) Thanks in advance. Re: Handling ADO Abhishek Sur12-Jan-10 23:57 Abhishek Sur 12-Jan-10 23:57  Of course. You are right. It is the new technology with ADO.NET. We now work with Disconnected Data Architecture. We connect only when actual database is needed. We can create a replica of the original database (with relations) in our DataSet. Though there is also an option to use DataReader which works similar to ADO. So call : Connection.Open() Command.ExecuteNonQuery() // Anything here Connection.Close() As all of them are Disposable, you can use Using Block. You have to cast the Object sender in the method to the objecttype desired.
