Hello Every Body,
I am unable to fatch sql connection string from Global.asax
Actually I have defined the sql Connection string in global.asax
void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
// Code that runs on application startup
Application["dbStrConn"] = "server='ABC'; user id='sa'; password='admin'; database='XYZ';";
}
I am unable to understand how to add this connection string to sql datasource.
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="DS" runat="server" ConnectionString="------" ><asp:SqlDataSource>

Hi everyone
Does anyone have any idea about login to other website and fetch data from there to make some weekly or monthly report..
for example, login to my broadband account on provider's website and fetch data and make some weekly report.
any idea please?

i have a tab control on click of that tab i open a web page in Asp.Net. now when
i click on the page and Hit Enter the focus automaticly goes to the First Button on the page.....as this control is Date select Button the date popup opens.In the whole code i hv not set the focus any where and even tabindex of all controls r set to Zero (0). i am not getting why it happening....help me out.

Hello friends...I am using a datalist control to show classifieds. Each category has a list of subcategories.The subcategories are put in a repeater control.Each category may have any no of subcategories. Now when displayed this in internet explorer ..it shows blank spaces between each data item of datalist. When this page is browsed in Mozilla ..the design is spread totally...Is there any solution for this?

Hi all,
I want to design an application to handle a certification exam for some people using asp.net 2.0.First i do created a login page/register to get the information of the candidate going to appear the exam.After validateing the credentials i want to let the exam seeker to apper a page something like

i want to keep both prev and next buttons,a button to bookmark the question to refer latter and a submit button to provide the result......same as Microsoft certification exams does.
i want to expose single question at a time.
when i am clicking next i want to store the answer...and update it in the database....Plz send approprete code or URLsto do.

You can use wizard control available in .net, and on movenext command of wizard you can save the answer in db and can expose the next question.

I dont think, web.config is a mandatory part but if your web site does not have a web.config, web servers default settings will work for ur site also. I read an article, may be that helps you.

Yes. It will.....It will inherit the settings defined in the Machine.config file. Whatever we include in the web.config over ride the settings in machine.config.
web.config is specific for application..or sometimes part of the application.
It is not mandatory.
But machine.config file is also absent, then it will not work.
I dont think you can remove Machine.config file without putting at risk all your work.
If you fail for the first time , call it version 1.0.

Hi,
In my program I have used a logic to open the documents from the user given path.Because of that when one user open a document,others cannot edit. But when I used IE's "open/save" downloading to the client it always come with the prompt "open/save"..I really required to open the document without a prompt but on that time other users also will be able to open the same document.
Please show me the right way...Thanks in advance.

Simple answer --> You can not, unless you use ActiveX Control (which has a one-time prompted installation)

It's very easy to send and receve email in asp 2.0
first include following files in ur code filed
1)Imports System.Web.Mail
2)Imports System.Net
You can send mail in following way

objMailMessage.From = "youremailaddress@yahoo.com"
objMailMessage.To = custemail.ToString
objMailMessage.Subject = "Subject Heading"

I have a web app that is a directory where users log in. From there they select applications they want to run and based on that thye are directed to the appropriate server. How can I retain the login information when the user is directed to another server?

I want to add a search box on my Site that searches in the from specific column of a database..
Suppose the table consists of columns NAME OF BOOK,PUBLISHER,CATEGORY,FORMAT. it should be like this

(User Input)
dropdownlist(to search in specific column)
1)Name of book

resulting gridview control must contain the results with all the columns

if you are using DataSet to fill the GridView
thant call your DataSet in DataView class and your filter property to filter the data.
if you are using ObjectDatasource then you can define filterexpression of object data source.
I havn't used SqlDatasource you need to study ..
