as far as i understand u're question you want to add a control to the form and make it visible while scrolling, right?
in such a case, just add the control to the form either in design time or at runtime.
set the autoscroll property of the form to true, and the visible property of the control to true (true by default).
if add during runtime, you need to specify the locatin where the control is to be placed and then you add the control to the container of the form e.g. this.Controls.Add(this.button1); in case of C# where 'button1' is the control u added.

Hello Everybody,
Can someone help in finding solution for dataview filter
I know how to use dataview filter and I had been using dataview for my application for biding 5 gridview.
Every gridview is binded by dataview. And when I'm using filter by sending filter criteria using textbox, it is possible to send any kind of string to filter the dataview.
Now problem is when I send
string like
1) *text, it works fine
2) text*, it works fine
3) te*xt, it fails why this is so?
Can someone please help me in this regard
Solution on this will be appreciated

WILDCARD CHARACTERS
Both the * and % can be used interchangeably for wildcard characters in a LIKE comparison. If the string in a LIKE clause contains a * or %, those characters should be escaped in brackets ([]). If a bracket is in the clause, the bracket characters should be escaped in brackets (for example [[] or []]). A wildcard is allowed at the start and end of a pattern, or at the end of a pattern, or at the start of a pattern. For example:
"ItemName LIKE '*product*'"
"ItemName LIKE '*product'"
"ItemName LIKE 'product*'"
Wildcard characters are not allowed in the middle of a string. For example, 'te*xt' is not allowed.

put delimeter [ and ] programmatically
RowFilter = "Name Like 'Sar[*]avanan'"
this will give Names like 'Sar*avanan'

Thanks for quick & useful reply
I have tried ur code doesn't give expected answer.
Explaination:-
RowFilter = "Name Like 'Sar[*]avanan'"
Suppose Name contains like "Sareeavan", the above doesn't return "Sareeavan" as result, but returns blank
I have a column named "ref" which contains records like 0007k, 0017,0127, I like find out records such as starting with 0*7 search criteria (This should min return 0007k, but wont). As per logic 0*7 should return all above values as result.
RowFilter doesn't work on such criteria, do u have any solution on such criteria?

you misunderstood that. We can not do any pattern like 'te*xt' . If you want escape the character * from users input. we need to use delimeter [ and ] to remove compilation errors.

Thanks for ur reply
Finally conclusion is Dataview can not filter string starting with 00*7, we have to do some other solution, is it correct?
otherwise I have to query to database for filter criteria of such requirement.
What I was doing earlier
Retreiving data from database and keep it in cache[20 mins]
For every postback on same page, dataset is fill with this cache data.
Then this ds is converted into dataview in order to filter the record.
Postback happen when
1) on button click Filter,
2) ShowAll button Click
3) Paging
4) Sorting

Yes. You should handle this kind of pattern in Database query or Do it manually. You can not get advantage from RowFilter for this sort of patterns

I am working on VS 2005 and SQL 2005. I have one procedure where i created XML structure by using for XML explicit option.
Procedure returns correct XML if i execute it from Query analyzer.
But on the other hand, In my client application, only 2033 bytes of xml data is coming
Why Any idea???

I'm working on this app and had all my buttons and things on this page working. I have to add some more things, so I elect to use a tabstrip (a componentart tabstrip). So now my original page is on a multipage. Everything looks good and seems right but when the buttons are clicked the page is not posting back??
Anyone know what gives?

hi
Check if you have any validators in any of the pages in your multipage firing validation, but you may not have given the error message to display.
Or,check the InitialiseComponent() method for the event handlers because i faced the similar problem and in my application,i had some javascripts and after adding it, the event handlers weren't there in InitialiseComponent() method ... Check for it too...
Also do anyone know what have caused the evenhandlers in InitialiseComponent() method to vanish off, when i added Javascript code in my application?

Hi
I think if you are using ASP.net 1.1 and if you have changed the name of the button then it maight had happened check the button event name and Id of button both are same and Event handler declaration should match it

Hi all,
If I create a new hello-world webservice or similar declared like this:
[System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRootAttribute(Namespace = "http://HelloTest/2007/01", IsNullable = false, ElementName = "HelloResponse")]
And serializes the response - in the service - theres a nice namespace on the root node like this:
<HelloResponse xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns=http://HelloTest/2007/01>
This is also present when invoked from a browser. But if I add a webservice reference in Visual Studio and call this method, the "xmlns" attribute is not showing in the Xml! Where? Why??? It is extremely important that this namespace stays on the root node. What am I missing here?
If I extend the response to include some other nodes mapped from classes with own namespace declarations those namespace gets shown - on those nodes that is. Not on the root node. And I need it on the root node
Its really drivíng me nuts - plz clarify...

Hi all,
From participating in various forums I understand that it is impossible to get a "xsi:schemaLocation" in a Webservice response created using C# and VS2005 - unless the response is hardcoded implementing the IXmlSerializable interface..See http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1236565&SiteID=1 for reference.
In general all I want is that attribute to appear on the root node. But can it really be that I have to implement the above interface just to attach an attribute to a webservice response? Im using VS2005 and .NET 2 if that matters...
Plz clarify

hi
i want to know how to use session variable in asp.net2005 and why it is used.
and while doing coding at which place this should be written.
thanks
|

Session variables allow you to store information between post backs. The web is stateless, meaning that it doesnt know what it sent you what you are doing or anything between server hits, so to maintain this you can use session variables/cookies/etc...
The session variables can be set simply by coding Session("VariableName") = Value and then can be retrieved by coding Value = Session("VariableName") .
The session is maintained by a SessionID that is created at the first request and is stored as a session cookie in the user's browser in most cases.

As cleako has described session mentain user information. it can be stored at client side or server side both. At client side, it is stored in cookies and if cookies are disabled then automatically it goes to server. You can keep your session data in database also which is most effective. I hope, this information will help you a bit.
