I m generating htmltable on serveride and then placing it on webform with placeholder.Now i can show all htmltable on webform and user can see results coming from database.But now i want user to edit that information he wants so how can i do this?

Hi All,
I have some problem with imagebutton.
When I click on imagebutton code written inside imagebutton_click() event get fired two times.

When I keep beakpoint in dubug mode I just shocked when I saw this code executing twice.

I set
causevalidation to false
EnableViewState to false

but nothing is affecting this.

Please can anyone say why this is so?

There can be many reasons, if you want to have a chance for an appropriate reply, try to paste your code for imagebutton_click() and for Page_Load() methods.

I m using Dot.NET 2.0 and want to connect to sql server 2000. But it gives the following error when it opens a connection.

"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"

Any solution............

Check your authentication mode - I usually set mine to Mixed unless there's a reason not to

ur sql server is not installed fully and there will be error in window authontication mode or mixed authontication mode.select 'mixed authontication'.and use username 'sa'.try it.

hi,
I have to upload a MS Word file from client machine in a page.After that I have to count the total no. of characters of that particular Word file. I have already written code to upload the file and save.It is working fine.But before saving how can I count the total no. of characters???
And again will there be problem if multiple users try to upload files at same time.
I am using .NET framework 1.1 and visual studio 2003
Please give me some link or idea.

i dont know any direct solution but there is a work-around.
put a textbox (invisible) on the page. before uploading, put the text from the word file on the textbox. attach javascript to that textbox for counting characters.
if characters are more than your limit of characters. show error message or whatever you want to code.

javascript for it :

function textCounter(field, countfield, maxlimit)
{
if (field.value.length > maxlimit)
{
field.value = field.value.substring(0, maxlimit);
}
else
{
countfield.value = maxlimit - field.value.length;
}
}

WHile using the "viewstate" option with web developing, all the Server Controls are added into the "viewstate" hidden input box. Let's say I have a comboobx on my page and after loding it to the client, he is trying to choose another option of the combobox, and I haven't written any event related to this control.
Is it realy true that the page is been reloaded and go back to the server, and make the screen flick just to make this simple client side mission (for showing the other option which already there)?!.
whith Html/JavaScript it takes no time and not reflecting on the screen?!

cant understand your question fully. but if you want to know when the page is posted to the server then i can say-------
clicking of a asp.net button only cause a post back.changing selection of a combo will not cause a post back until the AutoPostBack property
of a control(a combo,a chechkbox,a radiobutton etc etc.) is set to True.
