Shpongle - Dorset Perception[^]
This SOTW has been 15 years in the making.
I even shared it a couple of times before, but never as SOTW.
I've recently been playing lots of playlists, with lots of skipping tracks, but then I realized I'd never skipped this track because it's just so awesome.
"Shpongle is a psychedelic electronic music project from England that formed in 1996. The duo are considered to be one of the progenitors of the psybient genre - a genre combining world music with psychedelic trance and ambient."
In this track we hear traditional Spanish (or Portuguese?) guitar and Portuguese vocals with lots of trippy psychedelic trance, of course.
This is one of my most listened tracks ever and it got a bunch more listens this week

What's not to like. It's basically Spanish guitar more or less as best as I can figure. Who doesn't like Spanish guitar. Please don't demean yourself by being proud of anything to do w/ me.

I think one of the best things about the SOTW is that I post lots of different music so most people here will find something they like eventually (although it may take some time)

Greetings Kind Regards As for electronics I purchased Tomita long ago but of course I was not an old people then. As for Tomita a little story. Back then whilst sitting around the company boardroom table/lunch table we ate together a small Electronics/Software company another engineer EE to be specific a trumpet player in fact was speaking of music and of a particular electronic composer who's name he could not recall he turned to me to inform him he confident I would know and I replied "Tomita" and he acknowledged "Yes" that was he. The gist of this story is I do not know how he knew I would know particularly as we had no conversation re/ same prior and in fact little conversation at all as we were not particularly social though he was a decent chap. I have another such similar story but perhaps for another occasion. As for recommending music I have been eager to recommend for some time a particular title I will not hold back now i.e. to wit to be specific in particular Kronos Quartet "Pieces of Africa" which I could not not play whilst driving and did so until the Toyota's tape player broke. - Best PS I play this week's SOTW daily now in fact several x's/day. My thumb is still a-tapin and I quite enjoy the angry guitar note part way through. Also I am quite impressed w/ the visuals i.e. to wit in particular to be specific I can not imagine how they are created as they are quite complex and varied.

There's little more satisfying than spelunking through a little MCU's hardware registers to try to eek some more performance out of its I/O. DMA, hardware SPI, SDMMC, here there be dragons.
Every new platform is like unwrapping a new toy. Downside is my code is getting uglier and uglier as it supports more and more platforms, with little I can do about it.
When it comes to driving LCD displays, one thing I did though was this. I decoupled the graphics driver itself, from the bus it uses, and both of those from the graphics library.
library-->driver-->bus
like that.
So now, I improve the bus, say optimizing it to use the Teensy's DMA capabilities and blammo all of my drivers benefit.
My code is unique in terms of IoT graphics libraries in that way.
The bottom line is a little mess goes a long way and improves performance for all my driver code across the board.
I've done it for the ESP32, and in part for the Teensy 4.x so far - the latter is a work in progress.
It's deeply satisfying to cover that much ground by modifying one header file.
And to do so by going back to the kind of coding I grew up with - smashing things up until i get to the wiring in the walls, figure out how it works, and tap right into the mains.
It's delicious.

No I just didn't understand you, since what I wrote had nothing to do with hard drives, and I don't normally associate the phrase "bit banging" with them so it threw me.
