I have recently started using OneDrive. I am not sure how it works.
I believed the data was stored in the Cloud. Yet there seems to be a folder on my disk drive. whet's up with that?
More importantly, how secure is it? do you know?
Finally, are any of you folks using it yourselves? What do you think of it?

As I use it, I have it installed on several machines. Each machine has a local folder with all the files stored there. there is also a cloud with all the same files in it. When you add a file on one of these machines, it is replicated to the cloud and then the to all the other machines' folders so you end up with a copy of everything everywhere.
Basically the same as DropBox.

Whether it is secure enough depends on your security requirements.
Speaking for myself, definitely would not store anything whose leaking would cause me financial or legal problems. These include state secrets (stolen or otherwise  ), anything for which I had to sign an NDA, my personal (or my employer's) IP, etc.

It syncs your folder to the cloud, basically. As far as security, I mean, I don't think it encrypts what it syncs so if the cloud gets compromised I imagine your files do too, but that's with any cloud so I guess maybe that's not very helpful of me.

It also contains the "Personal Vault" folder which MS claims is mega-secure.
