I am not a coder really, but my attitude is someone will have to mod it, try to make their life less hard, I have had to mod live code ("change this, but make it look like we haven't!") so I tend to leave detailed comments for the next time some poor so & so has to mod it (more often than not me!!)...

That's really their main problem, as far as I'm concerned. Too many people chanting "the science is settled" and not wanting to hear otherwise. Which is the opposite of the scientific approach.
