Same here. I also hate wearing jewelry. I have a wedding ring but I can hardly remember what it looks like - it's been in a drawer somewhere for the last 31 years!

I got engaged to the missus about 30 yrs ago and neither of us thought there was any point in a wedding. Still happily together. Our laws treat married and defacto people the same, so a wedding served absolutely no point or relevance what-so-ever... (and no I don't care what peoples pixies might think  )
So don't like and don't wear any rings. The missus has a collection of rings she wears as she pleases.

They are rubberized rings. They are getting more and more common with people who work with their hands, especially using power tools. The thinking behind it is if the ring gets snagged, it breaks the ring off instead of the ring tearing your finger off.
But, of course, other people just use them because they're cheap.

Yeah, it's not completely hazardless.
Many years ago I used to wear an engagement ring. At a music event I clapped my hands a little too hard and the ring made a blood vessel in the finger pop. In 10 seconds or less, the finger was twice as thick as normal and we had to quickly cut the ring off with pliers.
Haven't worn the ring since then, but we're still together all the same...

When I bought mine, I overheard the jewellers saying they don;t sell titanium rings because people have had their fingers ripped off when they've been caught in gloves etc, and they're hard to cut.

I was going to suggest a metal ring might hold it's value more than a plastic one, so not sure the cost is an issue so long as it's afofrdable to the perosn purchasing it.

Why would the price of a ring, or the actual ring, matter at all?
Do you get married to be with the other person or because you want the most expensive ring possible?
I don't even get the whole marriage thing.
There are some conveniences by law, like your inheritance goes to your SO and I believe you even get some retirement and tax benefits.
I get the inheritance thing, but as a single I want financial benefits too (and let married people live of love, why do they get to be happy twice!?)
