And yes, If I did apply, I would point this out to them in an interview. I think they would like to know that for whatever circumstance that the errors occurred that their recruiting email was fraught with errors.

At the bottom you can make the robot transparent and look how two different mechanisms may work. For the electronics, I would suggest the microcontroller unit for a multicopter, which also has a three axis gyro and is built to control multiple motors. Best an open source device, so that it's easier to adapt the software.
Edit: Arduino? Deodorant rollers? A beach ball? Great idea![^]

I have looked at various ways to do it. There are easier ways to do it by keeping the drive & balance in the 'head' opposed to the body with a system crawling around. Have a look for Mike Senna's BB-8

This leads us to the next question: What can that thing do? Not really much except rolling around.

Well, for one thing chasing animals (neighbors cat for example) and small children. If you had some form of tracking for the balls position you could add a lighter to give a thumbs up...

How about building two football teams of them? We would need to add a camera and aprocessor to find the ball, the other players and the goal and give it control over the robot's movement.

I'm just trying to find a purpose for that thing. I doubt that some Empire will be after me in the near future, nor do I have any secret information that I could entrust my loyal robot with. I don't even know any rebels who would be interested in my secrets.

But yes, I agree with you - everyone's got some "message" or "agenda" to push on us these days.. 
Now is it bad enough that you let somebody else kick your butts without you trying to do it to each other? Now if we're all talking about the same man, and I think we are... it appears he's got a rather growing collection of our bikes.

If you are looking for milk without BGH it is actually easier than you think, at least in the US. The majority of dairy farmers don't use it any more. Sure it can increase yield for a bit but it also increases the likelihood of a number of problems for the cow that make milk production zero. It is just a lot of milk distributors don't put the label on the bottle.
Also, have you tried the lactose free milk? Forget what it is called but my dad drinks it. A little sweeter than normal milk because they do something to split the sugars so the body can more easily digest them.
