How can MS take their own Edge browser seriously when it forces you to use two hands to open a link in a new tab and switch to it (i.e., you must Ctrl-Shift while clicking on the link)? Even IE had a better approach!

Anyway, for anyone who plays with other browsers every once in a while, the new version of Vivaldi finally has tearable tabs. Not as good as Google's implementation, but good enough for use. That was the only thing keeping me away from it. Added to tab stacks, Vivaldi is finally becoming a little more powerful. (It also has a 'Right-click, down' mouse gesture that opens links in a new tab and goes right to it.)

I did like that they released edge with lots of deficiencies compared to IE. I have a bunch of issues
1) I liked having the favorites in a folder so that I could copy then, and reorganize them in the browser, Edge removed that.
2) No longer can prevent web addresses from opening, and not even availability to a lot of other preferences. I will have to say trying to find what you wanted in the IE preferences could be a challenge.
And of course seems to be some incompatibilities

Incompatibilities is an understatement. I compiled my bookmarks into a very simple HTML page that I have used as my home page for the last twenty years and it has worked with every browser I have ever tried it on with the exception of edge. You can be assured that I refuse to use edge if it can't even load such primitive HTML as that page has. It doesn't even have any javascript or any other type of scripting in it. I think that is entirely ridiculous.

If you were around in the IE4 days, you'd know that a bunch of guys created a shell for IE4+ that gave you more than just the things you're moaning about, which made all the difference in the world.
Because IE later turned to utter garbage, they decided to launch their own browser.
I'll let you google it.

Just coming up to the end of the fourth series, and they still haven't found a damned thing worth more than fourpence.
It really is like watching a train wreck, where every tiny bit of ridiculous speculative BS is treated as absolute truth -- until it's completely disproven, by the end of the show.
But then there's more ridiculous speculative BS for the next episode, of course.
We've had multiple Ark of the Covenant theories, multiple pirate treasure theories, and even theories about original Shakespeare manuscripts. I don't think I've ever heard the phrase "Could it be...?" used so many times.
They're either all really great actors, or they all really believe that there's treasure buried there -- as if they hadn't found the real pirate treasure by airing four seasons of a TV show!
Fun to watch though? Hell, yeah!

I just can't stop watching it, though, even though I know they're digging for nothing more than audience ratings.

Stop watching reality shows. Many are fake just so there is something to maybe catch your interest. And how do you expect something to reflect reality when they are always aiming cameras at the cast. Of course they will act different. The History Channel has been absolutely ruined by reality shows.
Of course maybe you would be happier if they found some fake treasure. What crap these shows are.

I thought it funny when they were chasing it as the treasure of the templars, while some other show running on history at the same time was also chasing the treasure of templars down in the caribbean - as the templars were the original pirates.
And of course the string of divers that will finally reach the bottom of the hole, and every time they cant quite get there. But hey, just wait 5 more episodes coz another divers going to have a go again, again, again.

An Amazon Fire.
First job: get Chrome on it, so my bookmarks transfer.
Um....Amazon doesn't want that.
So, install the APK, and get it on.
Except ... you need the Google Account manager to log in. Amazon doesn't want that.
It needs Play services, play store, and the services framework. Amazon doesn't want that.
Get the APKs, install them. enable ADB debugging, ADB from the PC and grant it permission.
Chrome runs!
It logs in!
It won't sync...because you have to enable overall sync first, then sync google.
So it's loading. I think. It says it's loading. But who can tell?
Amazon old chap ... why do you cripple your devices, just because you don't like the competition? I wouldn't mind so much if your browser was any good - but some of what runs seamlessly on Chrome locks and freezes on Silk. And I've only had the tablet for an hour. 
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

I'm not an Android guy so I'm not exactly sure what this really means but...
Looking at the CHUWI HI12 specifications that Mark linked (and you apparently bought) it says "No" for "Google Play (Android Market)".
Doesn't that mean you'll have the same situation on it as well?

That tablet isn't the one he's talking about. That will be a few weeks getting to him. He ordered an Amazon Fire from memory to tide him over till the good one gets there.
