QuestionNAS question for the experienced NAS users here... Pin

Hello all,

I've been thinking about a small server, but probably a NAS would be a much better solution in my case.

I'm interested in:
1. Subversion/GIT server.
2. File server (protecting accesses given user credentials).
3. RAID.
4. Being able to backup all the pictures on all the cell phones at home.
5. DLNA to connect it to all the house TV's and devices.

I think a sinology solution would work perfectly for all those things.

Questions:
A. Do you use NAS solutions to perform all those tasks? is it a good move? do you recommend it?

B. How do you make backups of the NAS device?

I understand both RAID and hot swap capabilities make it much more safer, but given an electric problem it could all be burned, how do you backup your NAS? in a server you can use tapes... but what is used in a NAS?

Thank you all.
