I'm actually a 90's kid
Born in '87.
I'm not much into DeLorean's.
Had some good times recording mixtapes from radio. Listening until your favourite song came on, pressing the record button and pressing the stop button when it ended. Your songs were always interrupted by talking of the show hosts though. Good old times. I don't miss that though

What price range are you looking at, and do you want to upgrade or does it have to be "portable"?
Anyway, I believe that the tape deck is going to be a second hand, really crappy or very expensive. They're simply not mass produced with any type of quality any more.

Price range up to about 200-300 euro's.
It doesn't have to be anything as long as it does what I want it to do. I plan to listen to my CD's for at least another 15 years before I buy a new one.
As far as I can see most stereo's nowadays can have an iPod plugged in to it and that's about all the functionality you get... Well, sometimes they can actually play a CD.
I didn't even realize CD's were that old fashioned
As for the tape deck, I'm not a big fan of tapes, but some bands I listen to have tape only releases (I know, what the hell?!) Anyway, I still have some tapes and at least I want to be able to listen to them if I ever want to.
So far I think this [^] comes closest to my wishes. And for a reasonable price.

Have you tried a charity shop? In the US there are stores called "Goodwill" that have a lot of old, otherwise obsolete, electronics such as tape decks, multi-CD changers and so on. You could have your pick, and at a reasonable price too!

Don't know about that in the Netherlands... And I'm a bit suspicious of second hand electronics. You never know how long they will last.

That's also true of brand new electronics!

Yeah, but more true for second hand
I have a few bad experiences with second hand electronics. Not so much with new.
But maybe this time I have no other choice. It seems what I want is not very 2014'ish...

You should probably take a look at something like this[^].

Quality is of course crap for that price.

So a car stereo - tape deck and multi disk unit
Hammer and symbol - wake up unit
Hammer is dual use so covers sleep as well

A good snotting every time he has to use this phrase will not only remove the phrase from his vocabulary but will stop the activities that require it.

When you huff tear gas until your nose is running like a firehose and then blow it out all over the trouble maker.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

A 'Good snotting' is a 'Good flogging' or 'Having the shite kicked out of you.
So I (or myself) was explining that if the OP gave his kid a flogging every time he elephanted up, the elephanting up would reduce if not cease.
