Can't be done. The Registry has no versioning or history support. There is no practical way to do what you want.

So you're looking for the changes that the installation and then uninstall of an application makes to the registry??
You'd need to take a snapshot of the registry, building a database of all the keys and values you're tracking (not everything in the registry would be needed), do the install/uninstall, then take another snapshot, build a second database, then compare the two databases for the changes.

AirplanePilot is a struct with some properties, I have the following:
List<airplanepilot> lst;
when I try to change a property(of int type) of one of the list members I get an error:
"cannot modify the return value of because it is not a variable".
I have to mention that when I simply change a property of a struct which is not a member of the list it goes well and I get no errors

The problem is because you are using a struct, you are modifying a copy of the object you think you are updating. This is because structs are value types rather than reference types, in C# structs are rarely needed. What you have experienced is a common problem that c++ developers hit when making the switch.
The simplest solution is to make AirplanePilot a class as opposed to a struct. It is probably more efficient as well.

Hi Forum...
I have been looking the page DynamicProperties for PropertyGrid[^] but I have a little problem, this is...
I have a class (myclass), and this class is into a dll (class library . framework 2.0) which I'm creating... and I have the next lines (in general)
using ...
namespace myproject
{
[TypeDescriptionProvider(typeof(DynamicTypeDescriptionProvider))]
public class myclass : otherclass
{
...
}
}
Now the problem is that never enters into the DynamicTypeDescriptor.
Some body can tell me how to fix this problem
How can i include this code into a dll library class?
Thanks for your colaboration

As I am learning to Custom controls, that article is very intresting. The thing I found out is that if Designer uses custom contro (Dll or in same project) the updated proprties can not be seen as long you don't build your own project or dll to see changes

Errrm, I don't think so. C# has nothing to do with C++ - it's a completely new language. I'd love to know where you think this mystical upgrade option is.

If all you are after is a remote desktop viewer that you can use in .NET code, you might want to check out Palantir[^].

You can upgrade VB to VB.NET as VB.NET is based on VB - but there are lots of points that you end up having to code yourself. Trust me on this - you can't automatically upgrade C++ to C#, and I don't go giving my email address to complete strangers.

Hi,
I have created an application that is basically a file browser with some special functionality to work with my employers content management system. I have managed to customize the code to work with Windows 7, coming from XP. The main issue was related to UAC and the writing to various sections of the registry.
However one problem does remain: I have some code for opening the files in their predefined editors, these are of course also defined in the windows registry. This portion works fine on Win7. I have implemented a function where the user can choose to open a file with a custom editor, this is done using a contextmenu which invokes the following code:
internal void EditAs()
{
try
{
ProcessStartInfo Info = new ProcessStartInfo(localFile);
if (File.Exists(localFile))
{
int i = 0;
foreach (String verb in Info.Verbs)
{
Console.WriteLine(" {0}. {1}", i.ToString(), verb);
i++;
}
}
Info.ErrorDialog = true;
Info.UseShellExecute = true;
Info.Verb = "OpenAs";
Process.Start(Info);
}
catch (System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception except)
{
MessageBox.Show("Could not open application. Please check executable path.",
"Application missing",
MessageBoxButtons.OK,
MessageBoxIcon.Warning);
}
catch (InvalidOperationException ex)
{
return;
}
}
The code works fine in win XP but in win7 I get an error message stating that
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
When I click OK on the first message I get the error message from my catch clause.
I have googled like crazy for a solution to my problem, does anyone have a clue?
Thanks in advance!
/martin

Why you are not doing the restore process via a SQL stored procedure...?
Thanks
