Yes that works fine for me. The problem is to embed the swf in a application that i'm writing in C#.
I need to use the c# application as a form of a shell that will send pictures from the camera on the PDA to the swf and also allow saving text strings.

Thanks again, I also found that Odyssey CFCOM but from what I understood on their homepage it was pretty expensive, atleast for me.
I should look into the possibility for me to upgrade my .NET, cause that might be the best way to do it.

Hello all,
I develped an application it suppose to access SQL server Via internet i need to know if there is a special ports to use and what is the String connection to use.
Please help.

This is possible, but keep in mind that opening up SQL server to the internet is a huge security risk. If you need to read data from SQL server over the internet, have an application sitting on the server you wish to connect to that will talk to SQL for you.
That said, port 1433 is the default SQL port. You'll need to forward this port to your SQL server machine in whatever router(s) you may have. Also, SQL can be configured to use a different port, in which case you'll need to specify in the connection string using "Data Source = [addressOfMachine]\[portToUse]", for example, "Data Source = "192.168.1.5\6000" if your SQL server is on the machine at address 192.168.1.5, publishing on port 6000.
If you need to know what a typical connection string looks like, read up on connection string here[^].

Hi,
How do I disable mousewheel scrolling in combobox for C#?
|
|
|
|
|
Subclass the ComboBox, override the OnMouseWheel method, and leave that method empty (i.e. do not call base.OnMouseWheel).

I want to use a com object from a web service.
I get fancy security related errors like this:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E42CF104-DB12-4E6D-9053-D5424128DB72} failed due to the following error: 80070005
Is it possible to use com in a webservice?
If so, how should I do it to avoid these
security related errors?
greetings,
Niko.

80070005 is the numeric value for the constant E_ACCESSDENIED, which is just a general access denied error.
NikoTanghe wrote: Is it possible to use com in a webservice?
Yes, depending on what you mean by use COM in a web service. If your web service will internally invoke some COM component to perform it's process, absolutely.

I am indeed using the com object internally.
The object is created and used within a single webmethod.
I am accessing the com object by using a com interop
(created by add reference...)
Why am I getting this AccessDenied error?
Is it somehow possible to access the registry
and the file system from within a webservice?

Hi
I have a small application with a lot of object (200) can I reset them all to the original state when I start my app. with 1 command ?
I don't like to reset them all manually.
Thx

What do you mean by "reset", do you mean set them to null? Call a method on them?
If you want to perform some action on a bunch of same-typed objects, just put them all in an array or other IEnumerable list, then use a for loop or a foreach loop to perform the action. For example, here I have lots of objects that I want each set to the number 5:
object a = "hello";
object b = 1;
object c = "testing";
...
object[] myObjs = {a, b, c};
foreach(object o in myObjs)
{
o = 5;
}

Thanks for the fast responce
I just want to set my app. back to the state as it starten (when i load the program).
I can close the app en rerun it but that doesn't look good.
My app is a small program that generates a print list with a lot of variables. So when I press 'Generate or Print' it needs to reset all to the state like I just started my app.
I tried this.close() but then all is gone.
Thx
Koen

You'll have to design your app so that all state is managed by objects other than UI controls. Then you can simply say something like x = new StateObject and you'll start afresh.

Hi,
Have anyone a sample code for handle 2 usb-keyboard.
The program must to know wich keyboard is sending the key.
It is possible?
Thanks.

It's definitely not possible in the .NET framework class library. You might be able to do this using the Win32 SDK. I recommend you ask this question in the Visual C++ forum[^], as those folks will have a more thorough knowledge of the Win32 API.

Hello,
Is there a way of openning an XML file into an Excel without using the OpenXML method. It's only available for Office 2003. Thank you.
|
|

You probably aren't going to get an answer here in the C# forum, since this isn't really a C#-related question and most people here don't have intricate knowledge of the various Office APIs. You might try asking in Microsoft's Tools for Office forum[^].

hi, i am facing this trouble (pretty obvious tho')
im working with a xmldocument, the trick is this is coming with some empty attributes
i want to browse for the empty attributes and to get rid of them
this is the example of what do i receive
and under is what ive tried
it does only displays the name of the empty attribute
but do not know how to erase that from the node
SO MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE, PEOPLE !!!
===========================================================
NOW IS LIKE :
example attrib1="" attrib2="yes" attrib3="no" attrib4=""
node attribX=""
-----------------------------------------------------------
SHOULD BE LIKE :
example attrib2="yes" attrib3="no"
node
===========================================================
XmlDocument xmlDoc = new XmlDocument();
xmlDoc.Load("nuevo.xml");
XmlNodeList nodes = xmlDoc.SelectNodes("//@*");
foreach(XmlNode node in nodes)
{
if (node.Value.ToString() == "")
{
Console.WriteLine(node.Name.ToString());
}
}
Console.ReadLine();

You should check out the MSN documentation, in particular, the XmlNode.Attributes Property[^] which is a collection of the attributes associated to a particular XmlNode .

I have two projects. One is Server and the other is client. I am using udpclient sockets for network communication. To send custom objects I have to serialize and desterilize by using binary formatters and memory streams. It works great if I use a single project having two threads and communicating with each other. But my actual task is to have two separate programs running on any two machines of a network. Now both the programs have different things to do as one is a server and the other is a client. The server waits for the client to send a custom object. The client serializes a custom object into stream of bytes and sends it to the server. At server side, the server receives the incoming stream and has to desterilize it back into the actual custom object.
My custom object is completely serializable as described inn msdn. Attribute is there and ISerializable interface is implemented.
Both the projects have different names and versions as they are separate assemblies. Now for casting I have included the class of my custom object in both the projects.
But, I get an exception at deserialization time in server. The exception is;
"An unhandled exception of type
'System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException'
occurred in mscorlib.dll
Additional information: Cannot find the assembly
Client.exe Version=1.0.2365, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=null."
What I perceive from this exception is that after serializing, the serialized object also contains the Assembly Meta Data info in which it was created e.g. Assembly Name, Assembly Version etc. So, at server side, when the object is deserialized back to its actual state then the CLR finds out that the deserialized object does not have correct information for the current running Assembly which is Server.exe. So, then CLR thinks that this deserialized object is incompatible with the current assembly i.e server.exe and tries to find the assembly Client.exe. When it is unable to find client.exe as it is not at server side so it raises the exception.
I solution to this problem is that Client and server programs reside in the same directory, which is never going to happen in my case.
Another solution to this problem is that I make a separate .dll for all my custom objects that need to be communicated between server/client and place the same copy of that dll at both the sides. But I don’t want to follow this solution coz then I would be spending my time in just checking the consistency of dll at both sides and what if a dll at some side is mistakenly replaced by some other dll. So chances of errors are more in this solution.
So I am looking for another solution. Please help me if u have one.
Thank you.
Regards
Khalid

my guess would be that this is caused by having events in your object. If anything is hooked up to the event by the client then there would be a refernce to the app in the serialized object.
the following code worked for me a while back when i had a similar problem:
[field:NonSerialized()]
public event EventHandler thisEvent;
[field:NonSerialized()]
public event EventHandler thatEvent;
hope this helps

Well, Russ,
I dont have any events in my custom objects. They contain data members only.
Thanx for your reply.
